We have lots of new books in our library. These are found on the display beside the reading pit.

The students at Middleton Grange have been encouraged to write book reviews to share books that they have found exciting. Here are a few samples of these:

Title:     Billy the Brave Puppy

What was this book about?

This book is about Billy, who finds the world a very scary place, but at least Martin, Billy’s new owner isn’t frightening. When a bigger boy starts bullying Martin, Billy wants to help. But will he be brave enough?

What I enjoyed most about this book was…

I enjoyed this book because it teaches you to be really brave and fight bullies, and it is about cute animals.

You should read this book because….

People will like this book because it is about cute little animals getting lost or getting hurt, but the book ends in a happy ending.

There are more books written by Jenny Dale in any library.

  What was this book about?

This book is about a boy named Oliver, who doesn’t like milk and is very fussy. So he is going to the shops to get some fruit and other stuff to make a yummy scrummy milkshake.

When he was at the shops looking for the ingredients to buy.

  You should read this book because….

It is a very easy and awesome book to read and it is very good for younger kids to read and to enjoy. It also has a very good meaning.

Title:     Lost and Found

  What was this book about?

A normal boy who found a lonely penguin on his small doorstep and didn’t know where he had come from, so he tried to get the penguin back to his owner but no-one had lost him.

How it was quite funny and how it can relate to things in life.

  You should read this book because….

It shows how everyday people can be very kind and can be caring for anything and anything can happen to any average person ANYWHERE!

Title:     Not Fair, Won’t Share

Author: Lindsey Gardiner

  What was this book about?

It’s a story of Pinky and Blue. Blue likes to share everything with Pinky except one thing, and that is ‘Squishy Rabbit’. But Pinky wants Squishy Rabbit all for herself, so they tug and tug until Squishy Rabbit’s ear comes off and Blue gets angry and tells Pinky to leave. Pinky missed Blue and Blue missed Pinky, so they decided to be best friends again.

  What I enjoyed most about this book was…

The thing I enjoyed most about this book was when Pinky and Blue missed each other and sorted things out.

 

You should read this book because….

It shows how best friends can get into little fights, but they always make up again and they try to make it never happen again jus to make things right between them.

Title:     Animal Giants

Author: Barbara Taylor

  What was this book about?

This book is about huge animals. In this book, there are huge animal pictures. Sometimes it shows the actual size of insects. They are really marvellous. I think the most marvellous thing in this book was the ‘monster frog’ – the largest is 87.63cm!

  What I enjoyed most about this book was…

I really enjoyed this book’s pictures, because they are really really marvellous and exciting.

  You should read this book because….

You can see many huge animal pictures in this book, and I think when you finish this book you will feel greatly interested in animals.

Title: Charlie & the Chocolate Factory

Author: Roald Dahl

  What was this book about?

A Boy named Charlie, whose family was very poor.

Mr Wonka had put 5 golden tickets in chocolate bars, which if you found one, meant you could visit his chocolate factory. Charlie found one of these tickets.

How you never know what is going to happen next!

  You should read this book because….

It is really funny and interesting, and anyone can read it without stumbling over long words. You always want to read more because it is so exciting.

Title:     What will I do Without You?

Author: Sally Grindley & Penny Dann

  What was this book about?

It’s about a little fox called Figgy Twosocks, and a bear called Jefferson Bear. When Jefferson has to hibernate, Figgy gets a bit upset and doesn’t know what to do. Read this book to find out what happens.

  What I enjoyed most about this book was…

When Figgy makes a sculpture, and when Jefferson wakes up.

You should read this book because….

It teaches you to make new friends instead of having only one friend, because then it’ll make you think, “He/she’s never there when I need him/her”. This is a wonderful and lovely book.

Title:     The Lonely Chick

Author: Sylvia Green

  What was this book about?

This book is about a chick who thinks he is a duck, a very strange duck. His owner got the egg at a pet shop and put the small spotty egg in the duck’s small brown nest.

 What I enjoyed most about this book was…

The chick jumped into the lake because he thought he was a duck!

 

You should read this book because….

It is really funny and the little chick is always getting into tiny places. Very small, hard to reach places.

This book is very exciting!

Title:     Amelia Ellicott’s Garden

  What was this book about?

Amelia Ellicott’s garden is a big and pretty garden. It is right next to an apartment. One night there was lots of strong wind and lots of Amelia Ellicott’s stuff flew away, so all the people in the apartment helped get them back.

  What I enjoyed most about this book was…

The pictures, because they weren’t just straight lines they were blotchy as well.

 

You should read this book because….

It’s very colourful, and it’s a good book to read. It has a meaning that if you work really hard things will come out good, but if you don’t, things will end up bad.

Title:     Pop-Up Fox

Author: Janeen Brian

  What was this book about?

A boy called David had a lion suit and he really like it. He wasn’t very popular at school, but one day a boy gave David and invitation to his party. David had to dress up as something starting with the first letter of Philip’s name, which is P – but David thought it started with F.

  What I enjoyed most about this book was…

The last two pages, because David was embarrassed because he came as a fox, so they made him a Pop-up fox.

 

You should read this book because….

It is very funny at the end when they call him a Pop-up fox. I think he should have been called Party fox, and I think you should read this book because it is a fantastic, amazing excellent and funny book, and you should read the ‘Aussie Nibbles’ series because they are easy to read.

I enjoyed this book because it was so fun measuring the animals’ actual size.

 

You should read this book because….

It is very interesting and it tells you so much about animals. It has amazing facts and great pictures.
