Hell's Belles

I know, I know, this is a corny category header, but it describes them so well! These ladies give their opposites (and opponents!) hell, pardon the pun. These ladies can kick the @$$ of anyone they want to.

In most cases, these ladies (despite being secondary characters) are more admrable than the star of the story, if only because they ARE so good at what they do and don't try to be anything less than they are. They can usually steal a scene right out from under the noses of the lead character!

What I liked best about Misato-san was that she never let herself get down. She was always ready to get right down to the job and get things done. As much as possible, she never let things happen to her; she tried to change things instead.

The main character of the techno-coming-of-age piece Ghost in the Shell, she takes the philosophical natterings of Descartes (you know, the cogito ergo sum guy?) into a very interesting bit of story-telling. Miracle of miracles, the local video store actually had a dubbed LD that wasn't too bad. The story impressed me and the symbolism in the battle scene was lovely, when the ant-tank shot out homo sapiens from the tree of human evolution.

To be honest, I'm not at all sure if the Major's name really is Motoko Kusanagi, but I'm nearly ninety percent sure it is. If I'm wrong, please, pleaseplease PLEASE tell me, because I really liked her and it is totally unfair that I don't have her name right...

          Ryoko is easily my favorite character in Tenchi Muyo (besides Kagato and the Cabbits), and she looks good, to boot! Ryoko is very powerful, and, although somewhat rowdy, she also has a caring and serious side to her. Ryoko is one of those characters that should be the first one to be in here!!!

I love Ryoko! She is totally the best, especially the way she looked out for Tenchi when he was younger--super sweet. And when she faced off with Kagato... WOW! I think this girl is my favorite character in Tenchi Muyo.

          I can not tell you just how many hate lists she is one. Not to mention that she is totally undeserving of all of it. She has many positive qualities. She is more extroverted than many of the other cast members and forms friendships easily. She is very educated, a college graduate at 14!!! She only needs the school for further Japanese lessons as her kanji is bad. She is, though many say otherwise, an incredibly good fighter. Brave, skilled, and very competent. Most of Shinji's earlier kills were from luck alone and if you watch carefully, you can clearly see he makes more errors than Asuka such as the fourth and twelfth angels.
