Karma Chameleon

I don't think anybody out there doesn't know where the category title came from--Boy George, of course, from the song of the same name (I'm just not sure of the spelling...) ...Karma Chameleon...you come and go...you come and go... remember the good old 80's?

N-E-way, the ladies on this page are, as I mentioned before, horribly under-exposed. They are way cool, but the role given them is so tiny they barely register on you before they are killed off or are summarily dropped from the story line. I hate it when a good character is put to waste! These charactes are usually the most tragic figures too!

Somewhat standard disclaimer: None of these images belong to me, nor do they belong to the sites/webmasters I stole them from =). These images are owned solely by the creators, artists and/or producers of the anime/manga in question. However, if I took the image from your site and you don't want to share it, please tell me about it and I'll take it down. Sometimes, I have to crop/resize or otherwise alter a perfectly good image in order to emphasize the characters--if you don't like it, email me an alternative, please!

Esmeraude
from the series Sailormoon R

Kyle-Ohki says:
She's cute, she's powerful, and she's ruthless. The perfect formula for a great female villain. In short, Esmeraude ROCKS!

I must confess, I didn't put her in the Hell's Belles category, as he requested. I figured her tragic end more than qualified her for this category...

Naria/Eria
from the series Vision of Escaflowne

Daria says:
Well, I have to say I'm a little biased here, 'cause I just happen to like twins and lookalikes (Amiboshi! Suboshi!), but I really do think these two are good characters. They're intensely loyal to Folken and to each other (and have you EVER seen cooler guymelefs?!?!). I really liked the part where they let Van go because Merle reminded them of their own tragic pasts! It was kinda sad they both fell in love with a guy who didn't love them, but on the other hand it sorta added to their characters. The Fortunate Blood thing weirded me out a bit (in retrospect I decided it was kind of a cool idea)--but anyway, such loyal, loving, and tragic characters totally do not deserve to die so soon after being introduced! And they looked cool! And they had really great guymelefs! (Never mind that they tried to kill Van! They didn't go through with it! ...Okay, I'll shut up now.)

Pirotess
Pirotess
from the OAV Record of Lodoss War

The Dark Elf in love with Ashram was way cool! She was also only given about 20 minutes onscreen all told. =( Unfair! Even worse, she was happy to be dying in the arms of Ashram, even though she didn't deserve to be so shabbily treated. Sometimes you wonder about the guys who can't see past the ends of their own desire for world conquest that the near and dear are overlooked.

The Electric Soi
Soi
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

Soi may be the most pathetic of the Souryu Seishi--her life is so sad! Considering her power and ability, she has a frightening lack of control over the circumstances that hedge her around. I found her desperation to be liked/loved/useful to Nakago almost pitiful.

I was quite depressed when she sacrificed herself to save Nakago. All her life, it seems she spent sacrificing herself. I only wish she had had a happier stint as Seishi, altogether. This lady got a bum rap.

Hotaru as Sailor Saturn
Tomoe Hotaru
from the series Sailormoon S/SS/Stars

Erin says:
Sailor Saturn is so cool!! Why? Well..she CAN destroy the world..which is interesting in and of itself. =) Besides, you can't help but feel sorry for her..she just never seems to get an even break. And she's HARDLY EVER IN THE DARN SERIES!! She doesn't even get a transformation!! What a gyp. =P Like it would've taken so incredibly long to animate ONE STUPID TRANSFORMATION. Wowee. Fer cryin' out loud, we got ripped off..even Melvin is in the series more then she is.*ahem* Anyway, you HAVE to admit, it's cute the way she calls Haruka and Michiru "Haruka-papa" and "Michuru-mama". ^_^ Unconventional families rock. (Plus, she sacrifices herself to save the entire world..can't be a fun way to spend your afternoon. =)
