Damsels in Distress

These Annoying Women of Anime are perhaps the most, most annoying of them all. They are Damsels in Distress, but unlike the fairytale stereotype where the evil witch takes advantage of them, these anime characters are in hot water because of their own actions!

I accept that without these girls always needing rescue, a good bit of storytelling would be impossible in much of Anime. However, do they have to continually fall into danger? You'd have thought they'd learned their lesson by now, but nooooooooo!

Short and to the point, ne? Actually, she was pretty pathetic, especially compared to Pirotess. Deedlit could have been so much better, but no. For such a strong character who could do LOTS more than Parn, how could she have been of such little use in the story?

She gives new meaning to the word ditz. If it weren't for nepotism, she'd add unemployment to her impressive list of qualities. She can't carry out simple instructions (like SIT!), can't be relied on to get anything done, and can't pull her own weight in a situation (you did see the movie, right?). There's a whole litany of other can'ts and couldn'ts in here somewhere...

Basically, she's useless and an annoying crybaby to boot. If it weren't for Kiyone and the others' leading her around by the hand, she's probably get lost on the way to the bathroom! I think the only thing she ever did that helped the others out any was to get Ryo-ohki drunk when they were facing off with Kagato. Note: Coyote Blue says I'm being unfair to Mihoshi--after all, she had the guts to stand up to Kagato with just a laser pistol. Good point. Also, Sain-Zee Ueng says that ...how annoying she is depends on which series you go w/ (I've only seen OAV, 1st TV series and the movies) I don't think she's that bad in the OAV, and pretty bad in the TV series.

          It's unfair how Usagi gets all the credit and becomes very popular when all her powers were only donated to her by everybody else. Its even worse because she's utterly useless until (a) the fighting's done and the opponent is tied up enough so she can blast it or (b) somebody risks life and limb to get her a clean shot at the monster in question.

Ohhh--the members of the International Miaka Torture Chamber have hit the nail on the head. Just what did this bottomless pit do in a former life to deserve getting seven or more (depending on how you count!) GORGEOUS guys hanging all over her?

It's completely unfair!!! My only consolation is that my number one man (check him out anywhere in the Leading Men of Anime) Chichiri did NOT fall instantly, cloyingly in love with her.
