Men of Power

What, exactly, makes an anime guy a "man of power"? These Leading Men are the strongest characters, the fighters extraordinaire, always ready for a fight (to save the universe, or their girl, lucky, lucky!)---but that's not all they do. These guys light up the screen with their unbelievable confidence, strength, determination and, yes, looks. They're what my sister terms "to die for."

Not Quite Standard Disclaimer:
The images here were gleaned from many different sites--wherever I happened to see a good picture of the Leading Man in question...In some cases I had to chop him out of a bigger picture, brighten the image itself--anything to get HIS solo mug up there. If I'm using your image and you don't like what I've done to it, tell me about it and I'll take it out. Remember: all images here belong solely to their creators.

All guys are plugged in ALPHABETICALLY per page, and in the order I received the suggestions, to avoid the reams of hate-mail I can imagine for inadvertently maligning *your* Leading Man.

a b&w art shot; I am gonna have to replace this soon =)
Ken
from the movie Streetfighter II

Helen says:
If you're going to have Ryu from Street Fighter V, you might as well have Ken. Apart from the fact that they seem inseparable friends, Ken's the more human of the two. Unlike Ryu, Ken is focused on more things than just the Martial Arts. He's friendly, loyal, and charming. He's super-rich, but he doesn't seem to think of his money and status as something that makes him better than other people. I think he sees it as a tool, which is okay by me. When it comes to fighting, he's just as talented as Ryu - In fact, he learns his special moves much faster and with less hullabaloo, so I'm betting he has more talent than his buddy. Plus, he's handsome, well-built and has red hair. What more can you ask for?

Ryu
Ryu
from the movie Streetfighter II

This anime-based-on-the-game classic was one of the better animes of its type. Good character designs, better action sequences (this IS Streetfighter we're talking about!) and some pretty decent use of many characters. My main problem was that there wasn't enough story to use them all!

Ryu is what a friend of mine terms "babelicious"--he is, isn't he? I'd bet a good number of fighting enthusiast female anime fans would have noticed this guy right off the bat. With his signature "ryo-ken" (or whatever it is) he makes quite an impressive sight.

Squall Leonheart
Squall Leonheart
from Squaresoft's Final Fantasy VII

Lilu says:
He is the main character in playstation's Final Fantasy VIII. Even though the game hasn't been released here in the US, but I found a few sites of the game over the internet. One look at him, and my heart melts. There's no word that can describe him right now, not until I play the game at least .. :)

He is kind of a loner. He has a scar right across his face, but it only makes him more appealing. Since the theme of the game is 'love', I have a feeling, a guy like Squall, once he falls in love, he will love forever. *Sigh* Lucky Rinoa Heartilly.

Terry Bogard--EXTREME closeup!
Terry Bogard
from the movie Fatal Fury (I, II and II =)

Lysa says:
Since Terry is my all time fav anime hunk I had to say a few words about him. He is more than a gentleman, he is kind and caring...too bad his loves keep dying. But he is a awesome fighter, I mean Strong! He's soooooo fine and I love him to death, he's so confident....and his clothes are way cool, especially the hat. I love his hair!!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that you are the bomb for putting him on your male website, I've visited a few other male anime websites and they don't have Terry. I write to all of them, explaining why they should.....sooo thanks for giving the Hungry Wolf a home!!

Much appreciated, Lysa =) The image is from the Fatal Fury Gallery

Toshizo
Toshizo
from the series Zeguy

Chibi Rei says:
If you haven't already, then you simply must take a good look at him--a samurai from the past kicking cyborg butt, kind hearted and oh-so-fine!

It took FOREVER to find an image of this guy--and at that I am only guessing, since I've never seen this. The only sites out there with Zeguy on them all refer to the box-cover image so I had to chop outsome girl on his right. Handsome guy, wouldn't you say?
