These guys we originally did not think of as being particularly hot in any special way, but they grew on us. At first glance, they're fairly ordinary--or so you'd think. That's why this category is called "Moments of Glory"--there was one moment of clarity, a flash of intuition that hit you at some point in the anime, making you realize, "Hey, he isn't half bad..." That one redeeming quality led to the appreciation of these Leading Men. I just couldn't leave them out.

Not Quite Standard Disclaimer:
The images here were gleaned from many different sites--wherever I happened to see a good picture of the Leading Man in question...In some cases I had to chop him out of a bigger picture, brighten the image itself--anything to get HIS solo mug up there. If I'm using your image and you don't like what I've done to it, tell me about it and I'll take it out. Remember: all images here belong solely to their creators.

All guys are plugged in ALPHABETICALLY per page, and in the order I received the suggestions, to avoid the reams of hate-mail I can imagine for inadvertently maligning *your* Leading Man.

Just look at this guy! Wotta smile...
Chichiri
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

This multi-faceted Leading Man is the absolute bestest in my book (is that a real word?) If you haven't figured it out by now, you will soon. He is a gem of rare and touching moments in the anime--I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the manga (give me time!), but I am a thousand percent sure he is the best.

It is this Seishi everyone turns to for good ideas. Chiriko may be the wisest, but Chichiri has experience and smarts in spades. He can be relied upon to pull off the occassional impossible rescue and the teleportation is incredibly useful!

I hope you agree with me--and I hope even more you'll join Chichiri's Webring No Da!

Hikitsu, cool as ice!
Hikitsu
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

Cardcaptor says:
...guardian of the Shinzaho pendant of Genbu no Miko. [He is] cool, with the mature look...

I think Hikitsu was the long haired guy with the eyepatch (instant favorite!) I can't recall right now which power manifestation was his, but I know it was ice related. VERY cool, figuratively and literally!

If I got the pictures mixed up, please tell me!

'Nuriko wa...Nuriko'
Nuriko
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

Elaine David says:
...he's more beautiful than handsome, has a really cool shade of purple hair, and a nifty crossdresser at first, but he's probably one of the best guys to have around if you ever you need a friend and a protector combined. He's caring, sensitive and extremely loyal, and willing to sacrifice himself for those that he loves and cares for. Once he was able to set aside his grief from a tragic past, he devoted himself to his seishi duty of protecting Miaka, and wanted her to be happy more than anything. In the end, gender didn't really matter, because Nuriko was...Nuriko.

I think the best thing about him was the way he quietly decided to stay out of the love triangle (square?) between Tamahome-Miaka-Hotohori. Not many people have the depth of character to choose the lesser of two evils, or the greater of two goods!

Tatara-kun
Tatara
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

Cardcaptor says:
...he's cool and controls plants, somewhat like Yu Yu Hakusho's Kurama. He's one of the Biako Senshi and nowadays it's hard to find someone as faithful as him. He's a hundred and ten years old and appears in the nick of time to protect the members of Suzaku and even dies."SOB":~~~[

He was a *very* nice Seishi--very very cool. It was his steadfast devotion to Byakko no Miko that inspired Miaka and Tamahome to go on--quite touching, as anyone who has seen it can attest!

Tomite--VERY cool
Tomite
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

Cardcaptor says:
The second guardian of the pendant of the GenBu senshi, partner of Hikitsu. He has that adventurous look and both of them are 200-year old souls.

By process of elimination, Tomite was the guy with short hair. Come to think of it, I think he had the ice-snakes and Hikitsu had the arrows!

It's amazing how off-handedly the pair defeated the Suzaku no shichi Seishi--I like most the fact that he tried his best to kill Miaka!
