One Shot Wonders

Have you ever watched a movie or an OAV, noticed some super cool guy lurking in the background, then never saw him again? This site is dedicated to those guys with less than ideal exposure. They die too soon, they are superceded by the main characters, they are forgotten in their supporting roles, or they were simply evolved too quickly, so that the particular moment of being a Leading Man passes into history. The rallying cry is:

By definition, One Shot Wonders are rather difficult to find scans of...the coverage of these guys leaves much to be desired. It is difficult, though not quite impossible to grab images of these guys. If you have one, or know of one, then please contact me!

Not Quite Standard Disclaimer:
The images here were gleaned from many different sites--wherever I happened to see a good picture of the Leading Man in question...In some cases I had to chop him out of a bigger picture, brighten the image itself--anything to get HIS solo mug up there. If I'm using your image and you don't like what I've done to it, tell me about it and I'll take it out. Remember: all images here belong solely to their creators.

All guys are plugged in ALPHABETICALLY per page, and in the order I received the suggestions, to avoid the reams of hate-mail I can imagine for inadvertently maligning *your* Leading Man.

          I know you haven't seen any Rurouni Kenshin yet, but you have got to put Captain Sagara Souzou (not to be confused with Sagara Sanosuke) in for one shot wonder. Looking eerily like the evil Tamahome, this very handsome and heroic soldier passed on too soon in episode 5 of the series. It's because of this man that Sanosuke is alive today.

This poor poor guy! He thought he was working for the greater good when the government was using him for their own political ends. First betrayed, then vilified as a traitor evermore; only Sanosuke remembers the good done by his sempai...

          Gades is Allen Schezar's cheerful right-hand man. Taking orders as well as he dispatches them, this guy is a very collected individual. He is also a competent swordsman and useful during battle (and believe me, there's *lots* of that going on in Escaflowne). And, okay, he's totally gorgeous to boot. *g* He has a pretty substantial part for a few episodes, but he kind of fades into the background later on.

          What's not to like about this guy? ^_^ He's got Ranma's voice (heh), a happy attitude, and he's cute. Gotta love the pointy ears and fangs. ^_^

          Jin's a wind youkai from Yuu*Yuu*Hakusho; he first shows up during the Ankoku Bujuutsukai - I think he's the second person Yuusuke fights. He's done by Yamaguchi Kappei (*yay*! ^_^), and is a Very Happy Person. ^_^ Because he doesn't show up often, it's hard to get an exact hold on his character, but overall, he's very cheerful and likes to make jokes - he and Yuusuke are laughing and carrying on like two old friends, just before their fight. -_-;

          Ah!! This kid is too cute in the way he attacks with his yoyos. The whole outfit is cute!! And the three stars under his eyes only help. Also, Chuu's his friend, and Chuu's pretty cool (even if he is alchohalic = ) Call me a craddlesnatcher if you will, I'm happy!

I never thought of him that way... The image was sent to me by Cardcaptor Sakura--didn't she fix it up nicely?

          The behind-the-scenes leader. He acts as mediator, cook and confidant for the Troopers. With fluffy auburn hair and sea-green eyes, he is the cutest of the Troopers. Not much of him was highlighted in the TV series, but we did get to see him in the OAV's.

Not as happy as I am to have him up here!
