One Shot Wonders

Have you ever watched a movie or an OAV, noticed some super cool guy lurking in the background, then never saw him again? This site is dedicated to those guys with less than ideal exposure. They die too soon, they are superceded by the main characters, they are forgotten in their supporting roles, or they were simply evolved too quickly, so that the particular moment of being a Leading Man passes into history. The rallying cry is:

WE WANT MORE!!

By definition, One Shot Wonders are rather difficult to find scans of...the coverage of these guys leaves much to be desired. It is difficult, though not quite impossible to grab images of these guys. If you have one, or know of one, then please contact me!

Not Quite Standard Disclaimer:
The images here were gleaned from many different sites--wherever I happened to see a good picture of the Leading Man in question...In some cases I had to chop him out of a bigger picture, brighten the image itself--anything to get HIS solo mug up there. If I'm using your image and you don't like what I've done to it, tell me about it and I'll take it out. Remember: all images here belong solely to their creators.

All guys are plugged in ALPHABETICALLY per page, and in the order I received the suggestions, to avoid the reams of hate-mail I can imagine for inadvertently maligning *your* Leading Man.

Bored to death and still so cute, even when he's not himself!
Chichiri
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

I can't believe I forgot to include Chichiri here! He's got some pretty fantastic "incarnations" in the series, everyone will admit. I think one of the cutest was his impersonation of the Emperor while Hotohori, Miaka and Nuriko went looking for the last 3 Seishi. Goes to show just how thoughtful and innovative this Leading Man is!

I love this guy so much, I started Chichiri's Webring No Da!, to link all the sites of Chichiri out there...

These guys are pretty cute, don'cha think so?
The Brothers of Hikaru
from the series Magic Knight Rayearth

Hikaru had 3 older brothers that only showed up in the "buffer" episode--i.e. after solving Emeraude and Zagato's problems, but before the Knights returned to Cefiro to face off against Eagle and the others

They spent all their time trying to make Hikaru feel loved, even though they didn't know what it was bothering her. They were adorably desperate to tell her she was important to them, especially the youngest!

Andrael tells me
They are (from oldest to youngest): Satoru, Masaru, and Kakeru. Hee! ^_^ The things one remembers from reading the Rayearth 2 manga oh-so-long-ago...

That also means from top to bottom...

Tasuki's sidekick Koji is a Leading Man in his own right.
Kouji
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

Remember when Tasuki first showed up in the early part of FY? He was accompanied by a blue-haired hunk. His best friend cum sidekick Koji was the only one in the bandit band to respect the old leader's desire to have Tasuki be the leader of the group. When Tasuki went off to help Miaka call up Suzaku, he left Koji in charge.

Not only is the boy trustworthy, he's a comedian (that knock-knock bit is really cute) and has great timing--Koji to the rescue! He was quite cute, even though he was only in about four episodes.

Tetsuya
Kajiwara Tetsuya
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

He was Keisuke's friend, the one who always, always wore sunglasses. I found his ability to suspend disbelief and actually help out his friend after hearing such a cock-and-bull story (okay, okay, so he got proof) really admirable. I'm afraid I might have laughed outright at my friend if she told me that!

I liked the twist in the first OAV, where he was paired with Yui. Nice touch. Thank you Calliope for pointing out Tetsuya's full name and thanks a trillion Chris for the picture!

I finally found a decent image of Miaka's older brother!
Yuuki Keisuke
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

He was a really cool older brother--concerned for Miaka while not hovering. I can't believe he's related to her!

He really went all out to try and figure out what happened to Miaka, and his support for her cannot be denied. Seems fairly smart and is quite resourceful... I especially liked the way he dragooned his friend into helping him out--and financing the expedition!

However, the strongest vote comes from my sister, who credits him with bringing Tamahome "back" to Miaka. Right. Oh, well, at least he has a flair for drama! I got the image out of a larger on in Miaka, Suzaku no Miko's Room
