Men of Power

What, exactly, makes an anime guy a "man of power"? These Leading Men are the strongest characters, the fighters extraordinaire, always ready for a fight (to save the universe, or their girl, lucky, lucky!)---but that's not all they do. These guys light up the screen with their unbelievable confidence, strength, determination and, yes, looks. They're what my sister terms "to die for."

Not Quite Standard Disclaimer:
The images here were gleaned from many different sites--wherever I happened to see a good picture of the Leading Man in question...In some cases I had to chop him out of a bigger picture, brighten the image itself--anything to get HIS solo mug up there. If I'm using your image and you don't like what I've done to it, tell me about it and I'll take it out. Remember: all images here belong solely to their creators.

All guys are plugged in ALPHABETICALLY per page, and in the order I received the suggestions, to avoid the reams of hate-mail I can imagine for inadvertently maligning *your* Leading Man.

Basara Nekki
Basara Nekki
from the series Macross 7

Mylene says:
...any guy that's in a band is good enough for me but he is just too hot!!! I mean he is sooo buff! and again he's got that hair that you want to ruffle with your fingers or sumthing!!! hot hot hot!!! He may be hot tempered but that just makes him even sexier!**

Heero Yui
Heero Yui
from the series Gundam Wing

Shinobi says:
          He is self destructing
He likes to blow up things
He is one hard bastard to kill
          He looks so gorgeous

The bar-none BEST Veritech pilot in anime!
Macs Jenius
a.k.a. Max Sterling of the series Macross

Laziz (who also donated the image) says:
I have so many pics of Max, but which one?? I thought I'd stick to the original Macross pics, some of them are okay, but I will send this one, in the pilor seat doing what he does best. Oh, by the way, Max does have the highest kill ratio of UNSPACY in Macross and RDF in Robotech series. Just in case you wanted to know. Another addition is that Max believes in real love. Yes, he's one of those love at first sight type of guys.

Macs Jenius says:
Max Sterling is the best character of Robotech and he has the best looking wife. In Macross, the 'real' Robotech, Macs Jenius has two hecka fine daughters and he's such an awesome pilot that it's not even funny.

I agree. Max Sterling was my ultimate favorite Macross/Robotech character. I never could understand why he wasn't wingleader instead of that Hikaru Ichijo (thanks for the name, Derry) The way he fights is absolutely amazing!

Ichiyo Hikaru a.k.a. Rick Hunter
Ichiyo Hikaru/Rick Hunter
from the series Macross/Robotech

Mylene says:
First of all I love Robotech and Macross! And the first time I saw Rick Hunter on Robotech I was like wow! hottie!!!! He just has that sexy look and I love his hair!!!!

Hajime
Ryudo Hajime
from the OAV Sohryuden

My sister worships the ground this guy walks on. She is totally in love with the man. One look, one mention of his name for crying out loud sends her sighing away. It is almost frightening, how obsessed she is with this chracter. She even named her car Hajime--worse still, the rest of us call it by name!

However, I can't help but agree. The Ryudo brothers were very very cool, and as the eldest, Hajime is the most impressive. Nothing fazes him and he never betrays what he is thinking by so much as an eyeblink. Also, he has a pretty wry sense of humor, especially the way he dead-pans throughout the 12-episode OAV.
