Men of Power

What, exactly, makes an anime guy a "man of power"? These Leading Men are the strongest characters, the fighters extraordinaire, always ready for a fight (to save the universe, or their girl, lucky, lucky!)---but that's not all they do. These guys light up the screen with their unbelievable confidence, strength, determination and, yes, looks. They're what my sister terms "to die for."

Not Quite Standard Disclaimer:
The images here were gleaned from many different sites--wherever I happened to see a good picture of the Leading Man in question...In some cases I had to chop him out of a bigger picture, brighten the image itself--anything to get HIS solo mug up there. If I'm using your image and you don't like what I've done to it, tell me about it and I'll take it out. Remember: all images here belong solely to their creators.

All guys are plugged in ALPHABETICALLY per page, and in the order I received the suggestions, to avoid the reams of hate-mail I can imagine for inadvertently maligning *your* Leading Man.

Allen Schezar
Allen Schezar
from the series Vision of Excaflowne

Tarra says:
I can't explain it.. He's just the most beautiful thing I have seen in an anime for a while. His long sexy blonde hair just... well, WOW! And he's a Knight!! No wonder Hitomi blushes over him!!

Rei says:
Allen Schezar is a total hottie! Just look at him, his gorgeous blond hair outrivals Hotohori for best anime hair. And boy is he a snappy dresser, granted he wears the same thing all the time, but hey, not everyone can pull of wearing puffy sleeves.

Alan
Alan
from the movie Windaria

em says:
Alan just wants to do the right thing. He's a poor farmer in the land of Lunaria, just trying to make a living for himself and his wife. He is forced to leave his wife and venture to the Shadow Lands...He manages to escape and return home only to find that...his actions were for nothing. Alan...vows to make amends and promises to rebuild Lunaria and create a bright future with no more war.

I got the image out of this FTP site, as per em's suggestion...

Finally a new picture of Parn..
Parn
from the OAV Record of Lodoss War

Elaine David says:
Parn would risk all for the woman he loves (Deedlit), and in the end learn that life consists of a balance between good and evil, and a person must stake a path between both.

He managed to lead a group of strong individualists--no mean feat!!--all the way to victory. He earned the respect of kings and their advisors...Parn did a lot of things that were fairly impressive, but I think the best thing about him is that he KNOWS how to work in a group. How many grandstanding heroes can say that?

(The image I stole from The Record of Lodoss War Miscellaneous Image Archive. Not a bad selection at all!)

Roland--really small, but what can I do?
Roland
from the movie Windaria

em says:
Roland is prince of the Shadow Lands. He is also the forbidden love of Veronica, Princess of Lunaria. Classic Romeo and Juliet love story. He is a pacifist who thinks the whole idea of war is wrong but is forced to declare war at his coronation. When Veronica becomes the Empress, she too vows to fight King Roland, to their sorrow. In the battle, they come to realize they are fighting their parent's war and instead die in each other's arms.

Sniff, sniff... This image came from this site, also suggested by em.

Van Fanel -- donated by Andrael
Van Fanel
from the series Vision of Escaflowne

Andrael says:
Van-sama is from The Vision of Escaflowne [...] He's the fifteen-year-old king of a teeny-tiny country called Fanelia, and the only one who can pilot Fanelia's protector god, the guymelef (mecha) Escaflowne. He's the greatest! He's regal, yet down-to -earth...courageous, yet gentle, reticient, yet caring; short, yet sexy...He's cute when he smiles. ^_^

I finally saw some Escaflowne episodes. I admit Van has his moments, but his mecha is something else. He's never more cool than when he's protecting his own. We should be so lucky in the REAL world :::sigh:::
