Ms. Kwan's 3rd grade class.
Many people think of New York City and think of tall buildings and fast-moving cars. Many people don't realize that there is a great deal of life in the city… green life! New York City is home to a vast variety of plant life, whether it be in one of our great parks or on the sidewalk down a typical street.
PAL Facilitator, Peter Kwiecien will describe to the fourth grade class taught by Ms. Kwan at P.S. 124 the different plants that call New York City home, whether they be native species or introduced from abroad. In particular, Peter will highlight conversation efforts and simple ways that students can keep NYC green.
Peter is a former ranger at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. Peter is experienced in forestry and plant life studies and would like to share his knowledge with students. He is comfortable speaking about native plants of NY, work at a NYC park, border customs and patrol, and life in Poland.
