ARLINGTON, Virginia
At first glance, one would describe Richard Medrick as a man of intellect and sturdy morality. Admitting to a preference for tweeds and muted colors, the 31 year old native Virginian residing at Longview Apartments describes himself as a "simple man with simple pleasures."
According to neighbors who know him well, this means he has sex on a semi-regular basis.
"I hear them through the walls," claims neighbor Janene Cameron.
Cameron, a 46 year old Arlington resident has lived in the apartment below Medrick for three months and has made repeated complaints to her property manager about the distracting noises.
"For the first couple weeks I thought, well maybe he's just moving a lot of furniture around but who rearranges their china hutch at eleven o'clock at night?"
Upon questioning, Medrick admitted that he does not own a china hutch.
Cameron's claims are verified by Jules Tapir, a Longview landscaper. "Yeah," said Tapir, a licensed horticulturist with a specialty in shrubbery, "I've seen this one woman come out of his place several times. Maybe they're just friends but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure he's gettin' jiggy with it."
The woman, who has yet to be identified, has been seen entering and leaving Cameron's apartment on numerous occasions including Federal holidays.
Medrick had little to say when confronted at the local Giant supermarket.
"I'm not admitting anything,"said Medrick. "It's my apartment. It's my business."
This answer is probably a wise one states Manuel Esperado of Stuart, Boston and Son who notes that Ms. Cameron could consider a civil suit claiming Medrick's lifestyle is infringing on the comfort and morals of his neighbors.
"Regardless of whether he's been getting jiggy with it or has simply been getting his groove thing on, my advice would be to keep his mouth shut," said Esperado.
No one may ever know the truth aside from Medrick and the Mystery Woman. Cameron, for one, is determined to expose her identity.
"It's always the people you least expect," sighed Cameron. "I'm disappointed in Richard. But as for that little hussy, she can run all she wants but she can't hide."
