23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai
Date: May 7, 756 A.D.
Total Entrants: 72
Finalists: 8
Winner: Goku
Runner-up: Piccolo Jr.

The 8 finalists were decided by an eight block preliminary battle round.
Each block consisted of exactly 9 fighters. A total of 64 preliminary
matches took place. The preliminary rounds were held in a room concealed
from the Tenkaichi Budoukai spectators. The 8 finalists fought in an open
square in the center of a small stadium.
In the first battle, Tao Pie Pie pulled a knife on Tenshinhan in an attempt
to kill him for not seeking revenge on Goku. Tao Pie Pie was disqualified
and Tenshinhan quickly dispatched him.
During the second battle, Chi-Chi, who registered under the name Tokumei
Kibou, taunted Goku by telling him he broke his promise to her. Goku,
utterly confused, proceeded with the match and quickly defeated Tokumei.
After the match, Tokumei revealed her identity to Goku (who was the only
one there that didn't figure out who she was) as Chi-Chi. Goku, remembering
his promise, agreed to marry Chi-Chi.
During the second round of the Budoukai, Shen revealed his identity to
Piccolo Jr., but due to his weak human body, was defeated by Piccolo Jr.
At the end of the final round Goku, with two broken legs, an injured arm,
and a gapping hole in his chest, flew into the air, head-butted Piccolo
Jr., and fired a Kamehameha through his feet. This knocked Piccolo out
of the ring (and into a large hole), resulting in Goku's first Tenkaichi
Budoukai win! Despite Goku being the strongest fighter in the universe,
this was his only Tenkaichi Budoukai win.
