Adult Division Finals

The 25th Budoukai is, by far, the largest one to date. It attracts numerous
contestants with dreams of defeating Mr. Satan, and droves of Satan's
adoring fans. This is only the second Tenkaichi Budoukai which has taken
place in a stadium-like enclosure. In addition, this is the second Budoukai
to have a special Junior division for those under the age of 16. Previously,
all fighters, young and old, fought in one tournament.
Unlike
the Adult division, all 35 Junior entrants are allowed to participate
in the finals, as there is no Junior division qualifying round. As a result,
the large Junior division is skimmed over by both the TV series and Japanese
manga. Most of the battles mentioned deal with Trunks and Goten who really
wanted to, and had the ability to, compete with the adults. As a token
of his good will, Satan has offered to fight the Junior Division champion.
Satan, seeing the power of Trunks, devises a plan to get out of it. Prior
to their fight, Satan tells Trunks that it is customary to exchange light
pre-battle punches as a show of honor. Trunks reels back and lets him
have a big one right in the kisser, sending Satan flying into the brick
wall across the stadium.
Another
new addition to the tournament is the punching machine. Previously, the
finalists were decided by eight blocks of contestants battling it out
in ordered preliminary matches. The Z Fighters have quite a time with
the punching machine, with all of them topping Satan's score with just
a tap. After Vegeta demolishes the machine, none of the other scores are
given, even though another machine is set up. It is assumed that Great
Saiyaman, Videl, Jewel, Killer, Yaboo, Kaioshin, Spopovitch, Kiboto, Mighty
Mask (before Trunks and Goten stole his suit), and
Butter all qualified. The three unknown contestants on the score list
did not qualify (they don't even remotely resemble any of the finalists).
During an intermission after the Junior division rounds, while Goku and
gang go out to lunch, Goten and Trunks decide to knock Mighty Mask unconscious
and steal his suit. This is probably one of the funniest parts of the
Budoukai. Mighty Mask looks hilarious. Trunks and Goten (Goten being on
bottom) can never agree on which way to go, are always bumping into things,
and are constantly falling flat on their asses.
The
first match goes by fairly uneventful. Krill has no problem mopping
up Butter (it only takes him one kick). There is a bit of trouble
during the
second and third matches. Piccolo, sensing Kaioshin's immense strength,
throws the match by giving up. Videl has quite a bit of trouble with
Spopovitch,. In fact, she nearly dies before Yaboo tells Spopovitch
to throw Videl out of the ring to finish the match. During the 4th
match, Gohan and Kiboto face off. However, just as the battle gets
interesting, Spopovitch and Yaboo fly off with evil energy collected
from the match in an effort to awaken Majin Buu. Knowing what's happening,
Goku, Kiboto, Gohan, Kaioshin, and Piccolo take off. Videl follows
her "boyfriend", and, not wanting to be left out, Kuririn
chases after. This instantly disqualifies the contestants. |
After
much debate among the officials, Mr. Satan interjects and suggests
a Battle Royal be held to determine the winner. Only a split second
after the match begins, Mighty Mask has knocked Killer out of the
ring with just a tap, and Android 18 knocks Jewel out of the ring
with a kick. After defeating their attackers, Might Mask and #18 take
to the sky to battle it out. Not knowing the true identity of Mighty
Mask, #18 is astonished at his power. However, after being knocked
into the ground, Trunks and Goten go Super Saiya-jin and fire a VERY
powerful blast at #18. Now knowing the true identify of Mighty mask,
#18 fires a ki blast at Trunks and Goten. They are at a disagreement
over which way to dodge, and #18's ki blast ends up tearing the suit
in half, revealing their identity to the crowd. They are then disqualified
As #18 returns to the ground, Satan is scared shitless by what he
has just witnessed. Android #18 cuts a deal with Satan, in which she
will throw the fight to Satan in return for 20,000,000 zeni, which
he readily agrees to. As part of Android 18's "master plan",
Satan performs his strongest move, the infamous Satan Special Ultra
Super Megaton Punch (its just a regular punch), on #18. After asking
Satan if that was his strongest attack, to which Satan replies "Yes",
Android 18 throws herself out of the ring. |
