SSVK : ABOUT US
Vision: to establish of an egalitarian society devoid of any kind of discrimination and exploitation based on caste, class, gender, race or religion: a society that would permit the collective flowering of human potential for humane ends.

Mission: to work for the effective empowerment of the socially, economically and politically marginalised people to ensure their equitable participation in the societal mainstream.
Founder of SSVK: Shri Deepak Bharti had his initiation into social commitment in the course of the 1974 students' movement that broke out all over Bihar. Subsequently he forayed into student politics staying focused on issue-based rather than party-based activities. In the early 80s, he took to journalistic activism and wrote for a number of national and regional newspapers  focusing on the welfare of the deprived and marginalised people.

In 1986, Deepak Bharti launched SSVK to directly fight discrimination and disintegration that he was seeing around him. The organisation is inspired by the ideals of Jai Prakash Narain and Mahatma Gandhi.
Publications

Since 1994, SSVK has been publishing a newsletter called
Lok Shakti on a quarterly basis. Each issue is structured around one theme relevant to the developmental work being carried out by the organisation. For instance, a recent issue considered different aspects of the Panchyati Raj institutions and was published during the build-up to the recent Panchyati elections in Bihar (the first such elections in more than twenty years).

Apart from
Lok Shakti, the organisation, from time to time,  prints posters, pamphlets and booklets to educate as well as mobilise popular support on urgent developmental issues.
