One SSVK survey, for example, showed the status of child labour in the region. The survey documented 1,704 cases of child labour in 20 villages of Navahatta Block. Of the total, 650 were female child labour. Many young children are now working in Punjab, Haryana or Delhi, employed in areas including farms, carpet weaving and rice mills.
