SSVK's work has attracted the attention of national and international organisations. Future partners The SSVK has recently signed an agreement with the United States Institute of Peace in Washington to do research under the title: "Towards a Peaceful Indian Ocean: A Study of Coastal Conflicts in South Asia". The project will begin in January 2002. Present partners 1. Swiss Red Cross has been working with SSVK for a decade, on an integrated community development programme. 2. ACTIONAID is in a long-term partnership to rehabilitate child labour in the region. Past partners 1. Swiss Red Cross along with the Council for Advancement of People and Rural Technology (CAPART) and the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) assisted SSVK to install 550 hand pumps; make 150 modified treadle pumps; construct 900 low-cost latrines and construct and renovate 100 houses 2. SIDA supported a trip by women of SSVK's target area, from both inside and outside the state, to learn about additional income-making options. 3. CASA supported a Food For Work program to excavate a pond. This followed a successful campaign to win back community ownership of the pond. 4. OXFAM and the Indo-German Social Service Society (IGSSS), partnered SSVK in an awareness and prevention campaign on Kala-Azar and carried out flood relief operations. OXFAM support also went towards legal assistance. 5. The India Canada Cooperation Office (ICCO) extended support to 45 women to learn about handloom weaving as an income-generating activity |
