Here's a
little story: On June 18th in 1989 The
Uninvited Guests played a show somewhere.
Someone video taped it. That someone gave
the tape to me, and then I proceeded to
move to California and take the tape with
me. I started dating a girl and I showed
her the tape at her apartment. I suppose
this was to prove that I was once a rock
star so she should sleep with me. The ploy
worked, but alas I left the tape at her
house. Some while later I broke up with
her, quite messily I may add, and moved to
San Francisco never to see her or the tape
again. Ten years later on 6th Avenue in
Manhattan I am riding my bicycle with a
friend of mine and low and behold there is
the ex-girlfriend with an acquaintance
(ahem), walking across the street. We
exchange pleasantries and vow to give each
other a call sometime, not mentioning the
tape. We rekindle our friendship and
proceed to be best of friends for the next
year or so. She mentions the tape in one
of our conversations, but she says she
cannot find it, but "it's probably around
somewhere." Well I change my mind about
New York, New York and decide that San
Francisco is indeed my fair city and I
move back in November of 2000. She and I
are still friends and we talk on the phone
from time to time. Last week she says she
has a surprise for me and that she was
mailing it to me. I of course have
forgotten about said tape. Today at work,
in the mail it came... Good-bye, Cool
World. You might have this tape (I don't
know if copies were made), but I can't
wait to get home from work today and watch
it. On the tape it says: The Uninvited
Guests, Good-bye Cool World, 6-18-89.
Funny huh?
LCR©:
We really can't imagine anyone else
telling this story. Guess who I bumped
into in New York? Guess who I bumped into
in San Francisco? Guess who I bumped into
in Brasil? Who else does this sort of
thing happen to?

Thanks for
updating the bio, and you'll hate me for
this, however, I have three children, a
daughter and two sons. This is a great
site and I'll check in often. Thanks for
all the hard work put into it.
LCR©:
No trouble. But if this is a competition,
you are still not in the lead.

Hello
Tasty Joy ! Thanks for the Jockey Club
update. I passed it on to Sean who
actually played there with The Press (Sean
and Jude [of the Bees] were among
the band members). He's getting in contact
with some other Press members to put their
play times up. It, of course, was a little
before I could even get into the bar. So,
I am of little use from here on out on
this subject. Keep me abreast of other
such cutting edge, old school news. Nice
dining with half of Tasty Joy's board of
directors.
TJRC©:
Diner was actually half the board of
director's pleasure.

Dude, Dave
L. works "in the field of insurance", I
work in the Creative Group for an
insurance company. I am an artiste!
LCR©:
We understand your dismay. People
sometimes speak of us as if we were a
corporation peddling products for profit.
Really, we are only here because we like
music and we want to help artists. Viva
l'art! By the way, we revised your
bio.

'member
me? Good Lord. Had I known this was coming
I would've worn a better hat. What an
informational and nostalgic extravaganza
is this. I have tears the size of horse
turds welling up as I speak. I lived the
life of a mid-1980's rock megastar and
lived to tell about it. Thanks, to whoever
clued me in on the site. T.U.G allowed me
many great memories most of which occurred
during the summer of 1986. Mikey W. and I
joined the fold coming off of a song
writing partnership, crowned "The Gnarly
Surf Dogs," where the running theme was
surfing (and what did two Ohio boys know
about surfing?) and party songs. We hooked
up with Charles B. and some guys we knew
from The Springdale Music Palace (?) who
had recently disintegrated their band (?)
to form Those Zany Nixons. Those guys
were, of course, Bob and Mike R. We
churned out the powerhouse tunes like a
grist mill in a flash flood. The mix of
influences (?) from the B-52's and Surf
Punks to Brian Brain (?) fused to a
perfect form we had labeled Sponge Core.
Mike B. and Craig rolled in and the lineup
was rock solid. The infamous Jockey Club
gig, June 28, 1986 (?). It is true that we
were to open for Brian Brain, in fact we
spent the evening before practicing "Big
Drugs" to open our set with. When we
arrived at the Jockey Club we were told
that Brian Brain was out and the Rhythm
Pigs were in along with a third band who's
name I can't recall. To dispel any rumors
of our performing the entire first side of
Billy Joel's "Glass Houses", I happen to
have, what I believe is the only recording
of that show. I have a couple of other
cool items: a photo of Those Zany Nixons
in the 1986 Indian Summer Days parade, in
Fairfield, Ohio; some old flyers;
original, hand written lyrics to "Nuclear
Summer", "Prom Queen", "Udder Chaos" and
"Sweet Song"; and a frisbee from the Brian
Brain make up show at the Jockey Club
later that summer. This is a great site.
"Hey" to all the guys that I haven't seen
in a while. I'll check in often.
LCR©:
Thanks Jim, we are glad you enjoyed the
site. Stay in touch and put the 2004
Convention on your calendar!

We just want to remind people to look
around the web site. The Jockey Club
tribute has created a bit of a buzz and we
encourage you to check it out. Also, the
"links" page has some additions such as
Ho-Ho Records, Royal Fuzz Records, and
William Weber's site. Take a look!

[About
Jockey Club site] Glad you are digging
it. I have added in the info you provided.
[About Brian Brain flyer] Well, I
saved it but I'm still considering its
use. I think I saw another one for BB that
was a bit better in design. I'll probably
use it for a while, huh? I mean you did
scan it up for me. Thanks. [About
5/1/87 show date] I think I saw the
Pigs but can't remember sh*t ...... let's
just say I was there but not tuned in. I
think this is an '87 show, right? Double
check for me. [About link to TUG
site] I think I typed it in right. I
like these tribute sites, and even
weirder, sites for bands that are still
with us. [About more info] Can't
wait! how did you find the page? Or I mean
how did susank81? Later.
LCR©:
We don't mind if you don't use the scan of
the flyer. It was already out there on the
net, we just forwarded it. There is some
dissention about what we sent yesterday.
We forwarded Dave L.'s message that
suggests we were quite wrong. We know
this: TUG did open for Dementia Precox;
TUG did open for the Rhythm Pigs on one of
their visits; and TUG played the Jockey
club at least two other times somewhere in
86-88. We're still checking. Hope sorting
through this with us isn't a hassle for
you. As with Mikey below, we apologize for
the "*".

I love the
fact that I busted my lip on a microphone.
I AM SO F**KING PUNK ROCK!!!!!!!!! By the
way, please add Jim Mattingly to this
list--he might have some insightful
information.
LCR©:
Can anyone tell us how to find Jim? And we
agree--you are punk rock. Sorry to have to
mince your words -- Bob's kids might be
looking in.

As far as
I can recollect, Brian Brain did cancel
the 6/28/86 show and the Rhythm Pigs
stepped in. Also, the Dementia Precox show
had to be 1/87 as I played that show, but
I did not join the band until 8/86. (I'm
pretty sure I played that show. I think
that's the night I ran into Mike W. and he
busted his lip on the microphone). Also, I
know that we played in Athen's OH, on
5/2/87; I don't think we played the night
before. If only we knew there would be a
little show called "Behind the Music", we
might have kept better records.
LCR©:
C'mon guys. Figure it out. Does anyone
other than Dave L. and Michael R. have an
opinion about this? Maybe we should put
Dave L. on the payroll.

Actually,
the show with the Rhythm Pigs was 6-28-86.
I was there as a fan, not a band member. I
remember the guy from the Rhythm Pigs'
critique of TUG at the time; he told Jim
Mattingly "You guys all ended at the same
time on most of your songs". I think there
were two Jockey Club shows with the last
lineup of the band. I remember the show
with Dementia Precox, but I think there
was another show where we had a dance
contest and gave away a pair of parachute
pants to the winner. I can't remember who
else played that night.
LCR©:
Dave, there is a poster for the 6/28/86
show and it shows Brian Brain and TUG
together <take
a look>.
There is always a chance that the Rhythm
Pigs filled in or something. No one here
at the office remembers well enough. See
Michael's note below and correct him if
he's wrong.

Dear TJRC,
I sent the following message to the Jockey
Club Tribute site. Please share this so
others know what has been sent so far: I
can add a few items to your calendar run.
June 28, 1986, Saturday, Brian Brain and
The Uninvited Guests. Attached is a flyer
for this show. On May 1, 1987, The
Uninvited Guests were an opening act for
The Rhythm Pigs. These are in addition to
the show already listed for January 17,
1986 where The Uninvited Guests opened for
Dementia Precox. There is a tribute site
for The Uninvited Guests at
<http://www.oocities.org/tastyjoy/tug/>
if you wouldn't mind making the name of
the band a link to the site. Thanks for
the tribute and hope this helps fill in
missing info. I think that there were more
shows but I don't have records of those. I
know a few other people are looking, so
hopefully someone will find something and
forward it.
LCR©:
Thanks, man. Maybe we should put you on
the payroll.

I was in
attendance at the Rhythm Pigs show though
I did not perform. (Your loss I guess.)
Anyways, the PIGS were the bomb. Whatever
happened to those guys??
LCR©:
We haven't heard a single word about them.
You might try to find out so you could put
together a Rhythm Pigs tribute web site.

Hi TJRC,
I've got a bunch of old flyers I'm going
to dig out and send to the site.
Unfortunately, my files are behind boxes
of books right now and I can't get to them
easily. I'm sure I have some TUG dates in
there. How great is that site? I got very
nostalgic and almost choked up reading it.
Check out all the new wave/punk outfits!
Yay! Hope you are well, Susan
P.S. You noted the change in the address
of the Tasty Joy NY office, right?
LCR©:
We were taken back as well--the late
Jockey Club period marked the birth of
Love Chocolate Records©. We are
anxious to see any memorabilia that you
might have. About the New York office
address, we never told anyone what the old
address was. As the Tasty Joy Recording
Company's mainframe computer redesigns the
site, the addresses will be added.

Is there
nougat? I'll bet that's it. Nougat.
LCR©:
No. It isn't nougat. It must be the creamy
center that you have confused with
nougat.

....what

Some have suggested that it could be the
creamy center. Others think it might be
the hard candy shell. Which do you think
it is?
