Episode Stats: Japanese Episode 29: "Kakutou Pokemon! Dai Batolu!" ("Pokemon
Match! Serious Battle!")
Satoshi sees an Ebiwaraa running down the road and has Pikachu battle it. Pikachu is easily beaten when the Ebiwaraa's trainer, Asoki, starts commanding it. His daughter interrupts begging for Asoki to come home, but he vows he'll never come home until he's won the P-1 Grand Prix. The daughter, Manami, asks Satoshi to beat her father in the P-1 Grand Prix. They agree. Satoshi will use Okorizaru and Takeshi will use Ishitsubute. Meanwhile, the Rocket Dan see a poster for the Grand Prix and want to win the prize belt (so they can sell it for food ^_^). So they steal a Sawamuraa and enter the tournament under the name "Giant." The first match in the tournament is Satoshi's Okorizaru against another trainer's Wanrikii. Okorizaru is knocked out of the ring and Satoshi dives for it. Okorizaru now trusts Satoshi and obeys his orders, easily beating Wanrikii. Next is Takeshi's Ishitsubute against Giant's Sawamuraa. Takeshi throws in the towel after it's obvious he can't win. Next is Asoki's Ebiwaraa against Giant's Sawamuraa. The Rocket Dan cheat, though, when Nyasu squirts some glue onto the ring. Ebiwaraa gets stuck and, unable to move, is easily beaten. Having lost, Asoki decides to go back home with his daughter. Now Satoshi and Giant are the only ones left in the tournament. The Rocket Dan reveal themselves and lose the disguise. Okorizaru starts to pound Sawamuraa, so the Rocket Dan decide to cheat. Nyasu rigged a bomb at the bottom of the ring, and once Sawamuraa jumps out of the way, the bomb will explode, defeating Okorizaru. Pikachu sees Nyasu install the bomb and removes it. Without their trump card, the Rocket Dan's Sawamuraa loses. Satoshi's won! Pikachu returns the bomb to Mushashi and Kojirou right before it blows up. Ya na kanjii! Satoshi decides to leave Okorizaru to Asoki for him to train.
After last episode's numerous cover-ups, 4Kids got lazy as most of the Japanese symbols were left in the show. There were still a few, though.
*The Rocket Dan want to sell the prize belt for food. In the dub, they want lamb, ham, strawberry jam, chocolate cake, and sirloin steak. But in Japan, they want hamburgers, curry, cake, and ice (I guess ice cream). I think I'd rather eat the hamburgers and ice cream... *The tournament is actually known as the P-1 Guran Puri (P-1 Grand Prix)
and Musashi and Kojiou's tournament name is JYAIANTO (Giant). Sawamuraa
is known as "KIKKU no Oni" (the Kicking Demon) and Ebiwaraa is the "FUAITEINGU
MASHIN" (Fighting Machine).

Pocket Monsters was not created by me. It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo. Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon. No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site. All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!). |
