![]() Voice Actors: Ishizuka Unshou (Japanese), Stan Hart (American) Name Meaning: Many people belive that "Ookido" is supposed to be the American word "Orchid." The "-Hakase" part means "doctor," so if his name's put in the American order of title-first name-family name, his name would be Dr. Yukinari Ookido. Age: Unknown (it has been stated that he's too old to capture pokemon anymore) Known Relatives: Shigeru-grandson, Shigeru no Oneesan ("Shigeru's sister"--May in America)-granddaughter Hometown: Masara Town Aspirations: To study every pokemon known to man, and maybe even discover some new ones! Video Game Appearances: Pokemon Red (Game Boy), Pokemon Green (Game Boy), Pokemon Blue (Game Boy), Pokemon Yellow (Game Boy), Pokemon Gold (Game Boy Color), Pokemon Silver (Game Boy Color), Pokemon Crystal (Game Boy Color), Pokemon Puzzle League (Nintendo 64), Pokemon Snap (Nintendo 64) Manga appearances: Pokemon Dengeki Pikachu, Pokemon Special, Pokemon Zensho First episode: Episode 1, "Pokemon Kimi ni Kimeta!" ("Pokemon I Choose You!") Defining episodes: "Pokemon! I Choose You!" ("Pokemon! I Choose You!"), "Rival Showdown! Ookido Laboratory" ("Showdown at the Poke Corral"), "Return North to Masera Town!" ("A Tent Situation") Information: Ookido-Hakase is the world's number one authority on Pokemon. People all over the world look up to him, and some trainers, like Kenji, would give anything to meet him. Ookido-Hakase is Shigeru's grandfather, so Shigeru believes that he has an advantage starting out. However, Ookido-Hakase is just as nice to Satoshi as he is to Shigeru. In fact, I believe that he likes Satoshi more than he does his own grandson. In the fourth movie, there is quite a bit of information given about his past. He had an encounter with a Serebii and was transported to Satoshi's time, where he joined with them to battle Vicious. Ookido was a Watcher, like Kenji is now, and still keeps his old sketchbook in a safe place in his lab. Ookido is credited with creating the Pokemon Zukan. First appearing in 1996, Ookido made only two and gave them to Satoshi and Shigeru. Three years later (1999), he updated it by adding 100 new pokemon that were previously unknown to the doctor. His constant studies on Pokemon types, eating habits, social habits, and other such criteria is neverending. Ookido may be intelligent, but he's kind of goofy. He's always thinking about eating Satoshi's Krab or is being covered by Satoshi's Betobeton and has the kind of attitude that makes you wonder if he really is the world-famous pokemon expert. The fact that he sings the rather goofy-sounding first ending theme, "Hyaku Gojuu Ichi" shows that he's not the stereotypical nerdy doctor you'd think he'd be. Ookido-Hakase is currently at his lab in Masara Town, researching pokemon and awaiting what the other experts have to say about the GS Ball. Fan site links: There don't seem to be any pages dedicated to Ookido-Hakase at the moment. If you have one and would like it featured on this page, please contact me. Thanks to: MewHeart
for the icons and Bryon Youngblood for the pokemon information.

-Hakase hasn't really caught any pokemon in years, he does have a bunch at his lab which is assumed to be his. I suppose you could say that Pikachu was his before he gave it to Satoshi. Pokemon Owned (Red/Green/Blue/

Pocket Monsters was not created by me. It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo. Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon. No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site. All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!). |
