    Character Profile

Name:  Kenji (Japanese), Tracey Sketchit (American)

    Voice Actors:  Seki Tomokazu (Japanese)

Name Meaning:  His American name is a bad pun--since he draws pokemon, he's named Tracey (Tracey...trace...get it?).  His last name in America is basically "sketch it."

Age:  Around 12 or so, I'd guess

    Known Relatives:  Unknown

Hometown:  Unknown-it is assumed to be somewhere in the Orange Islands

Aspirations:  To have his work reviewed by Ookido-Hakase

Video Game Appearances:  Pokemon Puzzle League (Nintendo 64)

    Manga appearances:  none

First episode:  Episode 84, "Help Lapras!" ("The Lost Lapras")

Last episode:  "Rival Battle!  Satoshi VS. Shigeru!!" ("The Rivalry Revival")

Defining episodes:  "Help Lapras!" ("The Lost Lapras"), "Strike!  Soldier's Pride" ("Tracey Gets Bugged")

Information:  Kenji first met Satoshi-tachi on Bontan Island (Tangelo Island) saving a Lapras from being beaten by a group of punks.  Kenji nursed the Lapras back to health, and later to agreed to join Satoshi and Kasumi on their journey.

Kenji is essentially Takeshi's replacement during the Orange League episodes.  Kenji is a Pokemon Watcher, which means that he observes various pokemon in order to study them.  He's constanty drawing pokemon as a means of observation, so he is able to tell small differences in similar-looking pokemon.  Every now and then he's caught observing things other than pokemon (like the first gym leader Atsumi), but I think that's just the writers trying to make him more Takeshi-like.

Kenji only has three pokemon, two of which he already has when he meets Satoshi-tachi.  He obtains Strike later on, but he never catches more than three pokemon.

Kenji's dream is to have his work reviewed by Ookido-Hakase.  He is surprised when Satoshi and Kasumi reveal that they know the doctor and is even more surprised of their ignorance of Ookido's popularity.  When Satoshi-tachi return to Masara Town, Kenji's dream finally comes true and Ookido-Hakase is even impressed with his work.  Kenji is so happy and devoted to Ookido that he decides to stay helping Ookido-Hakase during the Jouto League.

Kenji is currently in Masara Town with Ookido-Hakase, taking care of Fushigidane and whatnot.

The Kawaii Kenji Shrine doesn't have a lot of information, but it does have lots of neat pictures, including a picture of his seiyuu in a Power Rangers-like costume!  It also has lots of sound clips of Kenji in Japanese!

Pocket Monsters was not created by me.  It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo.  Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon.  No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site.  All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!).
