Name: Tooru (Japanese; for simplicity's sake, I use "Toru" throughout this site), Todd (American), Snap (English, Canadian, Australian) Voice Actors: Jimmy Zoppi (American) Name Meaning: Tooru means to take (a picture). Snap comes from the American word "snap," which is what camera shutters do when they take a photo, or create a snapshot. For Kids' WB!, the dubbers changed his name from Snap to Todd at the last minute. So he's Todd on Kids' WB!, but he's Snap in England, Canada, Australia, and even on the home videos released in America. Age: Probably 12 or so Known Relatives: none Hometown: Unknown (first seen in a random woods, and seems to have his own cottage). Aspirations: To take the most honest-to-life pokemon photos Video Game Appearances: Pokemon Snap (Nintendo 64) Manga appearances: none First episode: Episode 55, "Shutter Chance Pikachu" ("Pokemon Paparazzi!"). Toru leaves in Episode 57, "The Secret of Raising" ("The Breeding Center Secret"), and returns in Episode 187, "The Riddle of the Frozen Himanattsu!" ("Moving Pictures!"). He leaves again two episodes later in Episode 189, "Freezer VS Purin! Inside the Blizzard!" ("Freeze Frame!"). Defining episodes: "Shutter Chance Pikachu" ("Pokemon Paparazzi!") Information: Toru met Satoshi-tachi when they were picknicking in the forest. Satoshi thought Toru was an assassin (because he saw the glare of his camera and thought it was the glare of a gun barrel), but he soon realized that Toru is just a photographer. Toru's hobby is taking photos of pokemon. But unlike other photographers, he doesn't want his pokemon to look as if they are posing. He wants his subjects to be taken in their natural habitats, behaving naturally. Because of this, Toru's photos are considered among the best because of their accurate protrayal of pokemon life. He's even had his worked published in magazines, which is no small feat for someone so young. For a while, Toru wants to take a picture of Satoshi's Pikachu, but Satoshi is bent on not letting the picture be taken. Satoshi and Toru are rivals for a short while, but an attack by the Rocket-Dan force them to work together. They quickly become friends, and Toru decides to join Satoshi-tachi on their journey. However, Toru doesn't stick along for long. He's in a whopping three episodes, and then decides to leave right before Satoshi-tachi head for Guren Island. However, he was useful for one adventure: Toru took photographs of pokemon locked in cages at Yamato's and Kosaburou's breeding center. These photos helped get Satoshi and Takeshi out of jail and enabled Yamato and Kosaburou to be captured. Toru returned in the Jouto League episodes near a mountain where a Freezer is supposed to live. Toru's goal was to take a picture of the pokemon, and when he finally achieves his goal he decides to stay behind again while Satoshi-tachi continue their journey. Toru is currently in the Jouto Region, taking pictures of rare pokemon. Links to Fan Pages: There don't seem to be any pages dedicated to Toru at the moment. If you have one and would like it featured on this page, please contact me. Thanks to: Pikachu

Pocket Monsters was not created by me. It was created by Satoshi Tajiri and the crew at TV-Tokyo. Pokemon is (c) Game Freak, Nintendo, 4Kids Productions, Hasbro, Bandai, and a ton of other companies. When you have a popular anime like Pokemon, lots of people own it so it's impossible to list every company who owns a piece of Pokemon. No infringement of copyrights is meant by the creation of the web site. All images were gotten from official websites (Nintendo, TV-Tokyo, etc.) unless otherwise noted (I don't steal images from other sites!). |
