Originally used as a secondary main line linking Manchester with Derby & London the Churnet Valley line was closed in 1964.
Now maintained by a group of enthusiasts the present steam trains operate between Cheddleton and Leekbrook, a short journey which it is hoped to extend from May 1998 to the picturesque hamlet of Consall Forge.
