Belmont Pool has been a favourite haunt for fishermen and, in the summers of years gone by, local youths from Ipstones would swim there and camp in the vicinity. It is a pleasant walk from here down to the towpath of the canal at Consall Forge, and the nearby Black Lion Pub. The most determined can walk to the Roaches from this area. The village of Ipstones, close to Belmont Pool retains its village shop, its butcher's shop and numerous Pubs.
