Recent Training

IBToC's most recent project was co-sponsorship of the 2002 Innoversity Creative Summit in Toronto.

Innoversity was a three-day festival focusing on the media's role in Canada, the world's most culturally diverse nation. It offered an exciting, new media marketplace of ideas and opportunities, particularly for Aboriginal, visible minority and marginalized people.

Seven of IBToC's Board of Directors chaired, sat on panels and committees or consulted on scripts and videos at Innoversity.

IBToC's most recent major four-week training courses have been with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) in Winnipeg, Canada.

Both courses got extremely high participant evaluations.

After the SABC Course in July, 2001, participants reported:

  • Importance of Subjects Covered was 94%
  • Effectiveness of Workshops was 92%

Written participant reviews were equally enthusiastic.

The APTN Course was just as successful:

  • Importance of Subjects Covered was 97%
  • Effectiveness of Workshops was 91%
  • Perceived increase in Skills and Knowledge was 30%

These are extremely high percentages for any training course anywhere and the reviews reflect the success of the project.
