KRISTI'S NERVES SEND HER PACKING
The girls are sent to a crash course in runway modeling with J. Alexander, and are thrilled by a visit from AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL Cycle 2 winner, Yoanna House . Later, overwhelmed by the pressures of the big city and slightly unnerved by a topless Lee Jeans shoot, Kristi , the 20-year-old student from St. Louis, Missouri, is eliminated.

THE MISS J. RUNWAY SCHOOL AND MISS YOANNA
Nerves begin to fray and pressure mounts as the girls settle into the Waldorf-Astoria. Kelle , the 20-year-old gallery owner from New York, NY, finds herself realizing that she doesn't know it all, while Kristi recognizes that she is intimidated and has a long way to go. Jennipher , the 22-year-old bartender from Pocatello, Idaho, feels that the living situation is a little tight and says, "There's a lot of drama in this house."

The girls receive their marching orders when Tyra Mail arrives, directing them to grab their "sweats and sneakers and head to the gym." They walk in the door to find J. Alexander in a skirt and heels and watch as he places a Granny Smith apple upon his head and struts. He bids them welcome to "Runway 101" and says, "Remember at the J. runway school, practice makes perfect and a perfect example of that is America's Next Top Model herself, Yoanna." And with that wonderful introduction, Cycle 2 winner Miss Yoanna House walks out to join J.

She tells the girls, "My life has been flopped around," and offers some advice that it's not about what the other girls are doing: "it's what you're doing, it's what you can do for yourself." As for her experience she says it's totally worth it, adding, "You'll sleep when you're dead."

The girls are told to get dressed and come out and show what they've got. For Norelle , the 19-year-old sales associate from Newport Beach, California, the height of the heel poses something of a problem, as she has never really worn heels before.

When Ann the 21-year-old student from Erie, Pennsylvania, successfully works it, she turns to her fellow aspirants and says, "That, ladies, is how it's done." J. thinks Kelle needs to loosen up, he feels that Nicole , the 21-year-old former punk rocker from Minot, North Dakota, is "afraid to let go" and that Cassie , the 19-year-old student from Norman, Oklahoma, is holding back. He also tells Toccara , the 22-year-old student from Dayton, Ohio, that even if she wants to be a plus size model she needs to, "suck the gut."

After the girls practice some more, this time with headdresses, Miss J gives them some good news: "For being such good sports I'm taking you out, just simple models out having a fierce time."

HEATHERETTE IS WHERE IT'S AT
All eleven girls pile into SUVs and roll downtown where they meet the design duo known as Heatherette--Richie Rich and Traver Rains. J. reels off their client list-- "Paris Hilton, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Kidman," while the girls scream with excitement. Norelle is perhaps the most excited as she is a huge Paris Hilton fan. J. tells the girls the show is so hot that even he can't get a ticket, and, "Guess what, you girls are starring in it. Hair and make-up await you."

As the girls are styled with exotic make-up and don intricate headdresses, Amanda , the 25-year-old mother from Hendersonville, North Carolina, is trying to get a glimpse of the runway before she has to walk it. She wants to see it first because her condition of retinitis pigmentosa renders her virtually blind at night, but no sneak preview is allowed. Miss J. reminds the girls, "Remember this is a challenge and everything you do from this point on you're going to be judged."

Before the girls head out we see Richie Rich commenting on how curvy the runway is and we hear J. telling the girls that once they are done walking the runway they must step up onto a circular stage, pose, and walk around it. The girls do their best and are greeted with wild applause, but when Toccara steps out the nightclub explodes. Toccara thinks it is for her sass and her walk. Eva thinks it's because Toccara popped out of her outfit.

Full of nerves, Amanda steps out onto the runway and the first thing she sees is glitter--the runway is covered with it. "The glitter saved me," she says with a sigh. Norelle nails the walk but as she steps up onto the circular stage, she tumbles and falls with traumatic results. "My biggest dream? The Heatherette fashion show. My worst nightmare? Falling. All in the same night!" Richie Rich shouts out, "That's going to make you a star."

After the show, Amanda reveals to J. that she is completely night blind. And though there was sympathy before, it has evaporated in the heat of competition. Toccara, Eva and Ann aren't quite buying Amanda's story and share their views in the car on the way back to the hotel. While in a different car, Amanda tells Jennipher and Nicole about a dream she had where she is beating Eva up. "I was slamming her head against the floor," Amanda says.

CATFIGHT BREWING AND YACHT PARTY
Tension mounts in the house as belongings go missing. Amanda does a little dance that's targeted at Eva, she sings, "I'm missing one hundred dollars and my laundry's gone because of a certain bitch, a certain bitch." The girls decide to play detective and Nicole writes on a 10-dollar bill, left out on a table, so that if somebody does take it, they will know whom.

J. comes to the house and tells the girl the winner of the Heatherette challenge gets to choose two people to join her on a yacht for an all day pampering. He tells Amanda she was trying to be "too sexy", he wishes Eva had "worked the cape more," he admonishes Kristi for looking down too much. When he gets to Norelle he tells her that it's really great that Heatherette are her favorite designers but her fall was really, really bad. He then says the winner just "nailed it", and that winner is "Miss Eva."

Eva jumps and does a victory boogie, rubbing it in the other girls' face, which doesn't go over at all. "If anyone else would have won, it would have been fine," Amanda confesses. The prize is a day on a yacht. She chooses her pal Ann, and then, surprisingly a girl she was dissing just weeks before: Kelle.

Later, Amanda notices her special crystals have gone missing, and she blames Eva. "I'm not going to walk out of this house until I go through everybody's pockets." Amanda bumps Eva in the hallway while she is ironing and Eva tries to set her straight. "You don't have the right to bump into me and not say excuse me." Amanda doesn't feel like apologizing, and Eva never one to shy away from a confrontation, says, "All right. It's on."

Jennipher is also having problems with Eva and she says within earshot, "I'm glad the bitch is going to be out of the house." Eva overhears this and confronts Jennipher in the hallway with Ann by her side. Jennipher thinks Eva is two-faced because she's a bitch to all the girls and then coy and sweet in front of the judges. Eva defends herself: "I'm cute Jennipher, I'm sorry, that's who I am." Ann chimes in and starts picking on Jennipher and when Amanda pipes in to add her two cents, the temperature gets even hotter. Ann turns to confront Amanda, and when she does Jennipher pushes her aside to get out of the hallway. Ann calls after her, "Don't ever touch me again or you will get knocked out." To which Jennipher says, "Oh yeah, I'd like to see it."

Yoanna arrives to escort the girls onto the yacht and Ann seems to love it the most. While back at the apartment, after having a full-blown meltdown about her crystals, Amanda realizes she just misplaced them, and they weren't stolen. When the trio of winners returns from the yacht, Amanda apologizes to Eva for having thought she might have taken her precious crystals.

LEE JEANS AND PEOPLE MAGAZINE
Tyra Mail is read aloud, and it asks if the girls can "stand out in a crowd." Bright and early, they arrive at a photo studio and are met by Jay Manuel. "You are going to be in a group shot for Lee Jeans. You will be wearing Lee Jeans…and nothing else." The girls are thrilled to learn the ad will be in People magazine. As for the nudity, Kristi says, "My family will not be happy."

Jay introduces the girls to the photographer, Hyungwan Roo, and tells them that they will be split into two groups and then composited together. Norelle, who loves her boobs, is thrilled to have her top off. As Jay looks at Kristi posing he feels like she should know her own looks better: "You'd expect her to cheat her jaw." He is impressed with Toccara's look, notices that Jennipher appears really uncomfortable, and that Norelle really likes showing her boobs. "She kept trying to show me how gorgeous her boobs are," Jay says with a smile.

JUDGING TIME
Tyra Mail arrives and the girls know that one of them will be gone as they narrow the field from eleven to ten. Tyra recaps, "This week you learned how to walk the catwalk from Miss Diva extraordinaire, Miss J," and then introduces the guest judges from Heatherette.

When Tyra is done Miss J. gives them their assignment. "You have to walk in a pair of shoes that are two sizes too small and in an ugly pink dress." Cassie goes first in the individual evaluations and though she complains about the shoe size, she gets praise from Nolé for her shot. Kelle is next and is in visible pain as she walks. Tyra tells her, "The best athletes, and the best dancers, the best models push through the pain." Her photo isn't too hot either and causes Janice to say it looks like she's undergoing a "breast exam." As Kelle flinches at the photo Janice tells her to "Shut up and take it."

Ann walks out and Janice says, "You came out like an East German swimmer." Tyra tries to be helpful: "Learn how to take the strength of being an athlete and then get the sex appeal and the stomp and the fierceness of being a model." However her photo gets everybody excited. When Amanda is caught looking down, Nigel asks about her eyesight and she spills the beans about her degenerative eye condition. Nolé, for one, doesn't seem to mind as he thinks her picture is beautiful as ever.

Things don't go as well for Kristi. Janice can only bear to watch through her hands as if she were at horror movie. Nigel says, "I almost backed up in my chair because I thought it was a train wreck coming towards me." Norelle fares equally poorly as she totters on her heels. Nolé says, "You look like the broken Tin Man. You need a major oil job and quick." When Norelle confesses she's never worn heels, Janice says, "I was in heels when I was seven." Norelle's picture however proves to be a saving grace and Tyra says the other girls should be scared it's so good.

Everybody grooves on Toccara and has nothing but praise, while they want Eva to toughen up a little. Yaya's walk leaves something to be desired but her picture gets nothing but kudos and then it is Jennipher's turn. She walks, she turns, and she raises her pink skirt to reveal the letters "A…N…T…M," across her behind. Janice is appalled and says an antic like that could get her fired in the fashion world, and asks her what she was thinking. Jennipher felt if she was going to show her booty, she might as well work it. Her ploy definitely falls flat and jeopardizes her chances of going on. Nolé sums it up saying, "I have nothing positive to say."

DELIBERATION AND VERDICT
Nigel is very concerned about Amanda's vision and doesn't think there is an agent that will take on a blind model. Janice thinks Kristi reminds her of Carol Burnett and everybody agrees that Jennipher's prank, coupled with her poor photo, is grounds to bounce her.

The girls are called back into the judging room to find out who will stay and who will go. Cassie is the first to make the cut. Then Ann, Nicole, Toccara, Eva, Amanda, Norelle, Yaya and Kelle. Jennipher and Kristi are left standing and Tyra asks that they both step forward. To Jennipher she says, "Sometimes you want something so bad but if you can't convey it to someone else it doesn't count." To Kristi, she says, "There's an insecurity that you have that the judges aren't sure is reparable." She then also tells Kristi that while the judges are concerned with her mouth, Tyra isn't. When Jennipher hears Tyra giving what appears to be a vote of confidence to her rival, she begins to well up and cry. But, then, in a twist, Tyra reveals the final model to advance, and it is…Jennipher.

Sent packing, Kristi expresses disappointment because she felt she could have done better. "It doesn't discourage me entirely, it just makes me want to rethink things". She tries to put a good face on what happened, saying, "It's just a really intimate thing to learn and I feel like I can better learn it at home."
