DOWN TO FOUR: NORELLE GOES HOME
The girls immerse themselves in Japanese culture, and while Yaya , the 20-year old student from Brooklyn, New York, and Amanda , the 25-year-old mother from Hendersonville, North Carolina, embrace Tokyo, the others struggle with the unfamiliar surroundings. In the end, Norelle , the 19-year-old sales associate from Newport Beach, California, is forced to make the long journey home as the judges cut her from the field.

EVA THE DIVA RIDES AGAIN
The girls' tour guide, Koko Niwa, arrives with Tyra Mail:

Hope you've enjoyed your cozy beds
But now it's time to stretch your legs
Pack your bags and get ready to go
At eleven o'clock
A new home you will know…

With five girls left, relationships that once were strong are showing signs of strain. Ann , the 21 year-old-student from Erie, Pennsylvania, and Eva , the 19-year-old student from Los Angeles, California, began the contest like two peas in a pod, but now they have grown apart. Relationships frayed after Eva said she hoped Norelle went home next. Ann says, "I'm surprised by how my relationship with Eva has changed. My opinion has changed drastically."

Amanda picks up on the negativity around Eva, explaining, "I feel a lot of people in the house don't want to be around Eva. The house has to have a target. That's just mob mentality." Ann feels there is very little truth to what Eva says: "I find myself seeing Eva fake her niceness."

They arrive at their new digs, a fabulous Japanese home. "It's so quiet it calls out for a calming personality," says Eva. Their homestay owner, Kuineo Koike, welcomes them and shows them there are two rooms--a triple and a double. Amanda and Yaya grab the double. Yaya explains, "Amanda and I emulate the Japanese style, it's just a whole different mindset." The girls of Pink Positive--Norelle, Ann and Eva snag the other room.

The homestay owner invites them in for a delicacy, which most of the girls pick at. Norelle seems to be the least open and interested in learning Japanese custom. She says, "I don't understand Japanese food. I don't eat it. If I do it's Panda Express."

TEA FOR FIVE AND FIVE FOR TEA
The girls find out they have to go into downtown Tokyo for a special lesson. Yoko Takahashi, their teacher for the day, greets them and says, "As a Top Model you must learn to interact with people from around the world. Today I am going to teach you the Tea ceremony." Amanda is excited, saying, "The Tea Ceremony has been around for thousands of years. It doesn't get better than that." Norelle is on the opposite end of the spectrum. "Japan and Japanese anything is like space. I don't know what to expect."

They adjourn to a different room in the Tea House to learn the ins and outs of the age-old ritual. The first step is to learn how to open the door to enter. "Opening a sliding door takes five minutes," says Norelle. Then they are shown how to eat a sweet, which also requires several steps. Amanda basks in the glory of the tradition: "This sense of otherworldly calm came over me."

Having learned to drink the tea, they now need to learn to place the bowl before them, which is more difficult than it sounds. Yaya feels she can nail it, and notices the difficulty Norelle is having. She adds, "Norelle seems to have a big aversion to anything foreign. I travel the world and people tell me how respectful I am, how humble a person I am."

Even in the quiet space of the Tea Ceremony the tension between Ann and Eva continues to boil. As Ann makes mistakes doing the necessary ritual, she and Eva spar, which causes Eva to feel like Ann always blames her. "Whenever Ann seems to do bad she just seems to get mad at me. I don't want to say she gets jealous, but she gets frustrated because of her performance."

As the lesson nears completion, the teacher remarks that each tea is special causing Amanda to well up with emotion. "With my blindness I appreciate every sunrise, every butterfly, every dewdrop on a petal." Eva gets into it, but Norelle definitely feels exhausted. "It's the most difficult place I've ever been in my life."

TEA TEST
Tyra Mail arrives telling the girls to be ready for a Mystic Tea Ceremony. On the van ride to the location everyone shares their thoughts on the intensity of the competition. Yaya feels confident, as she has racked up four challenge wins. Ann is surprised she has made it this far, and her competitive nature has her so fired up, that she definitely wants to stay longer than Eva. Norelle is stressed, feeling like any little thing will send her home.

They are met by their teacher from earlier, Yoko Takahashi, who tells them that Kyoko Higa, a famous Japanese designer, has made them kimonos for the Tea Ceremony. They will have to perform in front of a panel made up of Japanese judges. The winner of the challenge and a friend will be treated to a Japanese Hot Spring.

Norelle notices how serious Amanda and Yaya are, but she can't quite hack it. Eva is the first to be "thrown to the lions" as she puts it. She makes a mistake, notices it, and spends the rest of the time feeling the watchful gaze of the panel.

Ann makes a series of mistakes, which rules her out. Amanda's walk is awkward and her placement of the tea bowl is off. Yaya is very calm but forgets to wipe the tea bowl after she drinks from it. Norelle's bow is off, she drops the pick used to eat the sweets, and then doesn't finish the sweets before putting them in her kimono. The teacher says, "Norelle didn't do very nicely." Yaya wins again. She's won five challenges in a row. She chooses Amanda to join her for her reward at the hot springs.

Amanda and Yaya have a field day at the Hot Springs. Back at the house Ann, Eva and Norelle write in their journals and reflect upon the experience. When Amanda and Yaya return, all the girls decide to go out and have some fun.

CATFIGHT ON THE ROOFTOP
The girls go out to party and the distance between everybody and Eva becomes clear. "There's like four of us and then Eva," says Ann. Eva feels it, admitting, "It's a very weird energy. I'm not, like, close with any of the other girls in this house."

Tyra arrives and everybody is thrilled to spend time with her outside the confines of the panel. Tyra talks about how connected she feels to Japan and then asks about how everybody feels in the competition. Ann tells her, "I feel like I don't know some people here anymore." Eva knows it is directed it at her and the tension ratchets up a notch.

Tyra talks about T-Zone, her camp for young girls, and the importance of trust and sisterhood. "Just having a rapport on set makes everything go so much better." Now it's Eva's turn, and she says, "I don't really care. No matter, I'm in this competition to win." Ann adds, " I feel like I knew a lot about people here, but I've been surprised." Tyra tries to defuse the tension. "I don't think there's any such thing as a bitch, it's just a hurt soul." She adds, "Whenever I get real gossipy it means I'm being insecure. I check it."

The moment Tyra takes off Ann lays into Eva for dissing Norelle the week before. Yaya jumps into the fray, saying, "You walk around saying everybody's fake and you're real. You say everybody's two-faced. I feel like you're the person that embodies that the most." Ann then lays it on thick: "I thought I knew who you were and I've seen such a difference. I don't know if I like what I see now." Amanda tries to take the high ground, saying, "When the lionesses are hunting in a pack, when there is a flaw, you see it and everybody goes for it."

As the fight escalates, Ann challenges Eva that she might be talking behind her back as well. Eva throws it right back at her saying Ann talked smack about Norelle's hips and midsection. Yaya gets back into it and tells Eva, "You make me totally want to study psychology." Norelle only sees it through the lens of her friendships: "My one friend wants me to go home. My other friend thinks I'm fat." Ann can't figure out who the real Eva is. Eva thinks that for Ann to bring out all this personal stuff in front of everyone is wrong. Nothing is resolved and they call it a night.

A LITTLE OF THE OLD, A LITTLE OF THE NEW
Tyra Mail arrives and it's time for the girls' next shoot.

Bust out the old
Embrace the New
Get ready to walk in my footsteps…

They meet Jay Manuel and learn they are doing a T-Mobile shoot. He says, "I'm always saying, 'When I'm with Tyra she does this or she does that'…"and Tyra comes bounding out. She explains, "I'm going to be doing a photo shoot today and you guys are going to watch me. And while I'm shooting, I'm going to coach you at the same time."

As Tyra is getting her make-up put on, Norelle busts into what happened with Eva the night before. "What happened last night? First we were toasting then we were fighting." Tyra overhears and Norelle explains the whole situation with Ann and Eva. After Norelle talks about how Ann might have called her fat, Tyra tells Norelle, "What makes beauty interesting is when it's debatable."

Eva and Norelle make up in the garden, after Eva apologizes for what she's said. Then they head back in and watch Tyra rock it. "What I'm going to do is very strong poses. The kimono is very dramatic and it would be stupid to waste it." The girls watch in awe as Tyra nails pose after pose after pose, giving them tips as she goes.

Amanda tries to emulate Tyra but Jay feels she falls short. Yaya struggles and even drops the T-Mobile phone. Norelle looks lost and Jay tells her to think like she's a princess. Then it's Ann's turn and Jay can't get anything out of her. He chides her, saying, "In a graceful way, not a linebacker way." Eva excels. Jay says, "You working for the children like the rent is due tonight."

JUDGE AND BEGONE
Tyra introduces the judges, including Kyoko Higa, the Kimono designer. The girls find out they have a test that Nolé will administer: to walk in a Kyoko Higa kimono. Amanda goes first and though she is a bit wobbly the judges still love her. Her shot is praised, but she still has to deal with some negatives from the panel. The photographer felt like she lacked personality.

Ann's walk is too powerful for Kyoko, who feels she is not delicate enough. Her photo fails to earn high marks. Janice says, "The Statue of Liberty looks better." Yaya comes next and nails the walk but the judges struggle to find the inner Yaya. Nigel says, "I don't see you in there." Tyra adds that she doesn't like what Yaya has done with her hair. Janice then asks her to let the hair down, "Let's see East meets West." She does and everybody is much more pleased.

Norelle's appearance does little for the judges, but her photo gets high marks. Janice says, "Photograph--fabulous. Walk--horrible."

Nearly every judge chastises Eva. Janice notices she's out to lunch and Tyra asks if the competition is getting to her. Eva explains, "I guess for the one time in this competition I have felt drained. Not tired, just drained." When she starts to cry, the judges all tell her to get it together.

"Amanda is fierce in a photo but not fabulous in person," says Nolé. Tyra thinks Ann should go home. "When I was modeling I was doing it for Ann. It was a Monkey-See, Monkey-Do. Ann did a Monkey-Don't." Kyoko is the only person to like Norelle's work. Everybody agrees Yaya can do better. And while Nolé likes Eva's photo, Tyra is very disappointed by her crying before the panel. "You got to know how to go home and cry to your mama but show the world a great and happy face."

When it is time for Tyra to pull the photos of the girls that will go on she calls Amanda first and tells her to let the personality back in. "There was a feisty fun girl that we saw in New York and we want her back." Yaya's name is next and Tyra tells her, "Today is the first day that you look like a model in person." Next comes Eva and Tyra tells her that she just made it by the skin of her teeth. "Leave your problems at the door."

Ann and Norelle are asked to step forward. They hold each other's hands as Tyra tells them her thoughts. "The judges have been debating about you two from week one. One of you is very strong looking in person; one of you is strong in her pictures. People want to see a fantasy; they want to escape when they look at a picture. People want to see a girl that looks like she does in her photos. That's the big debate, how important is it to take an amazing photo and how important is it to look strong in person. I'm not sure if that question has been answered but somebody has to go home." Tyra pauses, and then says, "Ann, congratulations you are still in the running towards becoming America's Next Top Model."

Despite being shown the door, Norelle is proud of herself. "I didn't even think I would make it to callbacks. I'm going straight home and going into agency after agency. I will be America's Next Top Model."
