Bike Trip

March 17-18, 2001, the Troop went on a bicycle trip to and from the Stone
Mountain Park. We had a good time. We biked together

Troop 107 (Oakhurst Presbyterian Church) of the Soapstone Ridge
District

May 19-20, 2001, the Troop camped at the A.
H. Stephens State Historic Park located north of I-20 near
Crawfordville,
GA. During the trip, most of the Troop participated in a bike
ride
of about 30 miles on Saturday afternoon and another bike ride of about
36 miles on Sunday morning as part of their preparation for BRAG.

Summer Camp at
Bert Adams Scout Reservation
From
June 17-23, 2001, while half of Troop 134 participated in BRAG,
the other half went to summer camp at the Bert
Adams Scout Reservation.

From
June 16-23, 2001, while half of Troop 134 went to summer camp at the Bert
Adams Scout Reservation, the other half participated in BRAG
(Bicycle Ride Across Georgia). The event was from Hartwell to St.
Simons Island.

NC State Football Game Scout Ushering
On
October 20, 2001, the Troop ushered at the Georgia
Tech vs North Carolina State University football game (Homecoming)
played on Grant Field at the Bobby Dodd Stadium.
On
November 17-18, 2001, the Troop camped at the Unicoi
State Park located 2 miles northeast of Helen via Ga. Hwy. 356.
MARR
Lodge on Lake
Allatoona Trip
On
January 19-20, 2002, the troop and six Webelos Scouts from Pack 134 and
their fathers went to MARR
/ Camp
Octagon Lodge
on Lake Allatoona.
The Wall
Crawler
Rock Club Day Trip
 On
February 16, 2002, the troop went on a day trip to The
Wall Crawler Rock Club. The
Wall Crawler Rock Club is an indoor rock climbing gym (on DeKalb
Ave.)
with 7,000-sq. ft. of climbing space. It is located just outside
of Little Five Points near downtown Atlanta. The facility
contains
climbing walls that vary in steepness and difficulty to accommodate
both
experienced and novice climbers alike.
Raccoon
Mountain
Caverns & Campground Campout
On March 9-10, 2002, the troop and four Webelos Scouts (and
their parent)
from Pack 134 participated in a campout at the Raccoon
Mountain Caverns and Campground. We participated in a guided
spelunking adventure through the cave and worked on the Boy Scout
Geology
Merit Badge or the Webelos Geologist Activity Award. We had an
opportunity
to pan for gems and camped in the campgrounds.
Soapstone
Ridge District
Spring Camporee
On
May 4-5, 2002, the troop attended the Soapstone Ridge District Spring
Camporee
held at Camp Gorman at the Bert Adams Boy Scout Reservation.
Activities
included War Bats, CPR, a map & compass event, the Golden Axe
competition
and the Order of the Arrow Tapout. While none of the troops
competing
in the Golden Axe event completed the event, Troop 134 tied for second
place by getting the fire started, but didn't burn the first
string.
Troop 175 came the closest to winning by burning the first string, but
not the second string.
Two of the three members of the troop who were selected for
induction
into the Order of the Arrow were recognized at the Tapout Ceremony
Saturday
night. They will participate in the induction weekend into the
Order
of the Arrow (called an Ordeal) later in May.
