Bo is a Chinese Cymbal. It is normally made of copper. In Song Dynasty, it was incorporated in the Wind and Percussion Ensemble for the Emperor. In Ming and Qing Dynasty, it was used in Chinese Opera. In Modern China, it is a vital Percussion Instrument in Chinese Orchestra Works. It can produce a variety of sounds by hitting the two pieces at each other in many ways. Rubbing the two pieces with each other produces the sound of wind.
Diao Bo is one piece of Bo pivoted on a stand. Instead of using another piece to hit it, two hammers are used to produce a continuous sound.
