Our trip around Tasmania began at Launceston and followed an anticlockwise track, stopping as often we wanted. The first few legs were fairly cool, and it was particularly chilly around the Nut at Stanley, as winds gusted in off Bass Strait. Through out our Tasmanian odyssey, we came across some startling natural scenery and lots of historical relics. The contrasts around the island were interesting as we moved amidst arid rocky outcrops of the west. A visit to Sarah Island was one the treats here. Prison relics on Sarah Island A guided tour of Sarah Island was very informative... Contrasts of old glacial country in central Tassie The lush vegetation around the Gordon River and its infamous role in Tasmania's conservation movement remains. Then we moved into the enchantment of Russell Falls and other national park areas. The beauty of Russell Falls A giant amongst us...
Russell Falls From here we moved towards the eastern coastline, Port Arthur and Hobart.
