Monthly update everyone! The weekend after Fall break, I took a road trip to visit Nicki in NYC. She was stressing over finishing her schooling, and moving out of her apartment this December. So I trekked though the Pennsylvanian countryside and got into the city at about 8 that Friday. I wasn’t goin in for tourism, I wasn’t goin in for vacation, I was going in for Nicole. We got to uh…walk the city late at night, sample the best diners, Chinese food and NY bagels. And of course, hang out. It was short but sweet. Hope you are well, nick, I love you so much. All will work out in the end. The following week was poo, school is for fools, and you know it. I was living for the weekend. Aaron was comin up to IC, with a friend from RPI, Vanessa, as well as picking up Jill Garrison from SU. Fri night, Halloween, we as an apartment got costumed up, and made a plan of parties to make appearances at. Aaron and Vanessa tagged along, but alas, they had no costumes. Boo RPI students. I had a good time- I was the Hulk. Nobody messes with the Hulk. Not Pocahontas, not drunk girl, neither Mario or Luigi had anything on me~
Saturday night we hosted another of our famous parties. Brandi, Jill, Becky Forrestel, Aaron and myself had a great reminiscence of high school. Brandi was a real good first time pong player. It was a lot of fun to party the way I wish we could have during our years at ACS. Sunday I bid farewell to my buds and got to work on my 2nd film, and oh man do I have a story about that. This week was going very quickly, its already Thursday. But last night we got to chill out a bit, as Wednesday nights go. We played pong, met some new friends and made it through another hump day. I am glad our antics didn’t erupt to, uh, the travesties of last wed. as captured on videotape. Strip beer pong is never good – rather, it wasn’t too good that night, we need to make revisions before the next attempt.
This morning was my film screening. The assignment was to take footage of old news reels and a parade and a science video, and edit together a cohesive piece with the progression of 5 frames, 10 frames, 15 frames 10 frames etc. over my 45-90 seconds, with original soundtrack, I made up a game the audience plays. Its real confusing to explain, but you can judge for yourself, I will post it soon. But the screening was the best. There were a lot of good films in my class, better results came from this assignment than the last. So fifteen of the sixteen films are shown, and the professor, commenting on the last film shown, “wow I would say that’s the funniest I have seen on this assignment, are there any more?” I look at my friend Julie, and give a nervous smile. The TA, says no there’s one more… My film begins and I start to sweat. No one is laughing… then the second audio track narrated by my roommate kicks in and the images flow faster, and the laughs are rolling in. the professor by now had taken off his glasses and was wiping tears from his eyes. The film ends and the room is in a state of pandemonium. I was beaming. The class begins to discuss my editing and soundtrack decisions, but the there was too much distraction caused by my film. The professor ate his words about the funniest film, apparently. He was pleased and so was I!! He is like, “well we are going to watch this one more time, and uh, that’s it – you can go home, go write, just go, class is over, let’s watch!! My film was the only one watched twice and the cause of our class being let out 25 mins early! It was the greatest feeling ever. It was the best start to my day. I was so excited; I celebrated by going back to bed.
Now I am watching my nightly Rosanne, and lying in bed. The rest of the week I am going to write up my final film, and basically catch myself back up in my school, uh- work yeah, work. For now I am going to chill in the living room with the matrix, in excitement for seeing the revolutions tomorrow night. Take care all. Hope you are as ready for this semester to end as I am.
Have a good one ~ Joshua Kohl

I love Akron. It was So good to be home. I love being in Ithaca too, though. Its good to be "home." Over the weekend I got to spend time with the new Auntie, Nicki, went to Canisius to see Josh 2, spent a day at my high school, entertained my nephew, saw TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and supported my mom in her race for Newstead Town Councilwoman. It was a great full weekend. Short, but I will be home for Turkey day. I have also made plans to visit Texas in Dec. Tonight I am attending a movie with Kate Heather and Mariel. Probably TCM again, I loved it, great flick, I'd love to go again. Well I am off, Take care, and I will be back soon with another update.

The saga continues. In efforts to enslave all that use the internet, with personal conquests of wireless netoworking, and continuing the black label on my name after the events of the last day of my high school career, I have struck again. On the morning of Thursday October 12th, 2003, I received a phone call from the manager of internet servies. He called to inform me that my netowork port had been turned off. He asked me if I would why they would have reasons to do this. Logically I did. I have been running a personal network in my apartment, between my g4 tower and wireless powerbook. I had the ability to surf the net, and chat with the mac program rendezvous, on both computers, for a total of six screennames without program cloning. This is done basically by distrubuting IP addresses and using them for personal use. As stated in the Resnet agreement, “…” I was in strict violation of this rule and was totally aware, it was only a matter of time before I was caught.
So on the phone I was told that my network port was not using one IP, but rather four. The problem arose when other student’s computers were finding these IP s on the network, and using them to go online. Now earlier in the year there was an epedemic of the BLASTER worm on the network, shutting down the network for a good week. All non mac computers can get this net-VD, and therefore when PC’s signed on my network they werent virus protected. I was informed that my netowork experiments were responsible for taking 25 computers off the network and spreading the virus to countless more. I played the fool to the demonstrative language of the ITS manager. He tried to intimidate me with tech terms, DHCP, IP servers, blah blah, but I shot it right back to him. I know what I am talking about. He told me of the compromises I was making to the network by wireless networking, but I figure with the 180 bit encrypted password protected network radiusing my apartment (100 feet) they can’t tell me I am compromising the network. The only thing wrong besides attatching two computers to the network and using a wireless router to split my connection was the ability of other students to latch on my network.
So I was told there wont be a problem and I can get my network privelages back if I detatch the network and abide by the rules, boo. I agreed, for now, and was back on the net by 6 pm. I will not give up this fight, and I will find a way in. Even if I have to write a letter to ITS and not hack my way through it. I am proud of myself, another notch to my belt. I think I shall end up the victor, as usual.
Thurs was slow. I played uber-nerd and exchanged divX movies and mp3s with my friend brian, and met some freshmen ladies who live in the dorm I was in last year. Friday was boring, I took a three hour nap, it was great. That night I went with Jay to a party at some house, the usual. Sat we hosted another bangin party here in the apartment. Happy 20th Kate. As for today, I brunched and and yadda yadda I am in line for tickets to Ithaca's Men's Acappella Chorus. Should be a blast. I'm off though, I will update once before I depart for Akron, yay vacation.

BoSox kickin butt in NYC: Media
This week has been useless. Monday I fasted and repented for the holiday, meaning skipping my classes and taking personal time to do what I love, filming. Tuesday I had one class, today I had four, but believe me, not a bit of homework was done. I have been religiously watching the Red Sox, my whole apartment is for em... Personally I don't like baseball, but its good to be social. Actually the week wasn't a waste. I successfully hooked up my friend Ashley's new 15 inch powerbook with programs, as well as networked my two computers to DOMINATE the school's network, and got Ashley's wonderful Mac to fileshare with her Toshiba laptop. I was thuroughly satisfied with my computing abilities.
I'd like to give a shout out to the newly single ladies Heather Wagoner and Kate Hannam. You two know you always have a home in the apartment. If we need to date on a weekly rotation, thats fine, as long as I get to sleep in the middle at least once in a while. ;-) You know I kid, but seriously you girls rock.
I am currently waiting for Jay to return. He was supposed to get resources for our Wed Night Pong. Wednesday isn't over until I go to bed, and if that doesn't happen until sometime mid-Thursday, then thats too bad. Tomorrow I have one class, then I will probably veg, out until something else comes about.

Hey all, I am layin in bed, watching TV. Today its been rainy and bummy. I got up and ate brunch then helped on a friend's film shoot. I am shooting my first film Monday. This next week will be easy, nothing too much more than filming. I am waiting for vacation. I think I will be home Wed the 15th til sat or so. It's all good.
Last weekend I went up to Syracuse for Comedy Central Presents Dave Attell Lewis Black and Mitch Hedberg, three of the best moden comics. The evening was long, it rained, i forgot how bad Andrew drove, but the comics were totally worth it. We had a few soccer games, lost in the playoffs but its all for fun. I think we are doing indoor. I don't know if there is any more to say... I redid my hair red, i like the red-hawk more than the blue. Tonight i am gonna hang with Kevin and go to a party. Tomorrow i have some meetings and work to do. I will be off now, catch you later with a more interesting update.

I am sitting this Sunday morning on my chilly balcony staring off into the east. The wireless technology by Apple almost encourages me to be more techy. Today should be a more productive day than yesterday. I got up, I ate, I showered, then it was time for dinner, haha. Then last night we pregamed in hopes of people showing up at the apartment, but no one was available, so we drank anyway, and found a soccer party to go to. It was a chill evening. The night before Jay and I went to an 80's party. It was great seeing everyone dressed up. We were just about to run the pong table when I see the Po. I'm like, Jay, put the ball down, its time to go. Haha.
Today I have another soccer game. I scored last game, and they were a unity team, who hasnt gotten scored on yet this season. We totally tied them 2-2 the second half. Too bad they beat us 6-0 in the first half. I need to write a paper today on poetry, AP stylee. It got bumped to being due Wed, which gives me two whole days to procrastinate - dummy professor. I also play the part of car bitch today. I am running to the commons for some jazz thing, and then I am picking up Brandi and Becky from the bus station. They spent the weekend in SU, and I said it'd be no prob to get them back up the hill. Blub blub~
What else... hmm. Hopefully school will become more enjoyable. Nicole told me that i have the right to be selfish, so I am trying that on for size. Slowly but surely... And she told me that I have too much going to get caught up on the little things. Come to think about it, Nicki, I miss you and I think you are wonderful. Thanks for giving me the rundown on those nasty speedbumps. As for now, I will take my blue mohawk and get something to eat. Yes its blue, its subtle, but its still mission accomplished. Take care ya'll.

Yep, I know I haven't updated in like three weeks. I have been prioritizing horribly lately. I don't feel focused too well with only one film class on my plate this semester. So yea I will be more attentive to the BLOG. In the transitionary period of school thus far, things have been well. Inevitable speedbumps in classes and life and love, but its things as usual eh? Let's see whats been most exciting in the past weeks...
I started the new season on ICTV. I am field producer of the show Backstage. So far i have designed the opening and closing credit sequences. I am super excited for the shows to come. I also have been playing club soccer here. I have a game soon, so I will cut this update brief. I went to a field hockey game to see Jen Tordy play the Bombers (she goes to Oswego). Brandi and I met up there. We hang out some times. Thats always fun. Last weekend I even went home. I saw my sisters and my nephew. Me and the fam went to the Anchor Bar. There was an amazing jazz band there, the Jazz Example. Hey, game's on. I will take advantage of the mobility of the laptop and update update.

Old SNL on Comedy Central : Media
Yea, um, I thought I would be able to skip an update at home and just update after moving into my apartment... So Sat the 24th, me and my parents drive to Ithaca, and move in and everything is groovy. However, the school network has been down all this last month, due to the BLASTER virus. So yesterday after my classes, I FINALLY got online. I set up my Airport Network, still having a bit of network trouble...but I will get back to that.
So here's the summer recap. The last week was very busy. I finished painting my sister's basement, it took like 16 hours.
The house is finally on the market.
I got to say goodbye to all my friends, as they go off to school themselves. I took Baker to LASERTRON to play POLICE TRAINER. We beat the entire game and got the friggin high score. I bought my laptop, and my airport and my isight and my printer and my ipod, phew. But I love it. I went up to Canada with Marcy to drink. I was supposed to hit up the Buffalo strip with Mollie from Cheektowaga, but that fell through. So I rounded out the week with my Bestest Buddy Nicole. She will only be in town for a bit more. I swear I am going to visit her before the semester is up. So then I bid goodbye to Aaron and Kraft. I got my shite together and packed, picked up my glasses and left for school.
The apartment is amazing, its on campus and close to my classes. check out the pictures. theres the living room and balcony, kitchen and other balcony, spiral staircase, My room, with Jay, Kevin and Dave live in the other room. And finally the bathroom area. There's a great view of Cornell. We were planning a party tonight, but I don't think that's gonna happen, oh well, theres plenty of time left.
Classes are going well, I have a pretty light schedule for 16 credit hours. I actually got a new job on campus as well. My Medieval Art History professor hired me to help him on his website, who'da thunk. And I get to work on my own computer with Flash and Photoshop. I'll get the link up here as soon as I can. Otherwise I need to unpack and put up some posters. I will be online all the time now, if not on "CatchKohl IfUCan", then find me on "Book Of Kohl"
