A Room Within My Heart

There is a room within my heart
Filled with fear and sorrows part

Filled with parents stress filled life
On how a husband treats a wife

On how a father treats his son
And how this son has learned to run

From worthlessness, hurts and pain
Control, abuse, he did gain

Control his life and that of others
His wife, his kids and friends and brothers

Control because he knew no other
Control because his father, mother

Control destroyed his life, his plan
Control destroyed his home, the man

Control destroyed relationships hope
Control destroyed thier means to cope

But now the man "Control" can see
Is abuse in the first degree

To change the heart, to love, be kind
First what comes is change of mind

To change beliefs he must see
The root of sin is at his "tree"

To see the things he's done as wrong
No objects, persons to him belong

And once begun, to not look back
But keep his mind and heart on track

He must embrace "humility"
If Christ he wants the world to see

If Christ he wants his kids to know
Then Christ to his kids he must show

And though he hasn't reached it yet
In Christ he will, you can bet

This room that's hid within my heart
Reminds me of life's painful part

But gives me hope that I will see
God's promise to form Christ in me
