To Be A Father
I love you all,
God's Garden
Poems by Others
What's it like to be a father?
To be cherished and blessed, remembered and honored
To be given the gifts of girls and of boys
Celebrated with hugs, with food and with noise
To be spoken of highly, esteemed by them all
Seen as a legend, Paul Bunyan feet tall
Not just a man that comes and that goes
But part of their lives, their heart and their souls
I'll tell you what it's like if I can
I don't deserve it for I'm just a man
Their love and affection, their desires to please
For these I'm unworthy and fall on my knees
I cry to the One who shows me His ways
By giving me children all of my days
"A quiver full" or so it is said
A blessing for me from my toes to my head
If I can show them the love they show free
I'll be a father to them like He is to me
