THE RACE, PEPSI 400- October 17, 1998

THE PEPSI 400-October 17, 1998- Daytona Beach FL.

THE RACING ACTION!!!!

Here's the start of the race. Now try and recall that these are not taken with telephoto lens. These seats really offered a good view of the entire track.

Another picture as they take the green flag. Bobby Labonte (in the special "small soldiers" car) had the pole but Dale Jarrett lead the first lap.........

By the second lap Dale Earnhardt, the winner of this years Daytona 500, was in the lead. That big crowd sure was pleased with this, at least from where I was sitting in the grandstands.

Jeff Gordon and Bobby Labonte come into the pits for some green flag stops during the race. From where we sat we had some real good looks at the pit stop action.

A Caution for rain showers. At least twice during the race a caution period was held due to rain showers. The weather was not all that cooperative. As is typical in Florida, evening showers can pop up anywhere and at times portions of the track got quite wet.

Here they go...into the pits....

At the caution period on lap 99 here's the leaders. Jeff Gordon in the lead. Dale Earnhardt hit Bobby Labonte's tire on pit road hurting his front air dam. Rusty Wallace, Ken Schrader, Bobby Labonte, were all in the top 4.
