THE WRECKS, PEPSI 400- October 17, 1998

THE PEPSI 400-October 17, 1998- Daytona Beach FL.

THE WRECKS!!!!

Here's the "BIG ONE" as viewed from our seats. Kevin LePage lost control of his car in turn 2 collecting over 10 cars in the melee. For as far away as we were, we certainly could almost tell what was going on. Having been at large tracks before you can barely tell if someone is passing another car in daylight. Here it was easy to see the cars...

We sat directly in front of the infield care center and the spot where the wrecks were brought to the garage. Here is Kevin LePage's car, Geoff Bodine and Hut Stricklin's cars after the "Big One". None would reenter the race.

Here was a car I really did not want to see wreck. Dan Pardus from Daytona Beach Florida had a real quick second round of qualifying (WE WERE THERE!!) and was actually at one point running in the top 10 when he wrecked. This guy was generally real excited to even make the race. Sometimes that is what it's all about.

Another big wreck involved rookie Kenny Irwin. He spun out on the back strectch with Steve Park
