This page contains questions, comments, stories, and miscellanea which ought to be of interest to at least some of us Mollicas. I also put genealogy information here that also finds its way to the Unlinked Mollica Family Trees part of the genealogy section of this web site.
If I include anything that you've written that you don't want to appear on this page, please let me know and I will remove it right away.

Rick,
For your update. I have been in contact via e-mail with Mireille Mollica in Belgium. We have bridged the French and English gap and have had numerous exchanges of e-mail. And, in a large part thanks to your MOLLICA PAGE effort, we have discovered that my grandfather Rosario is Mireille's great-grandfather Antonio's brother. A start to filling out another branch of the Mollica tree.
Again. Thanks.
Best wishes, Frank
[Great job, Frank and Mirella. This is exciting - to my knowledge, this is the first genealogical connection that two Mollica families have made by using the Mollica Family Web Site. Rick]

[I responded to Kristen, as I did to Stacie, that she should peruse the Genealogy section of this Web site to find the information she and Stacie are looking for; also that it would be great if the New Yorkers could provide names/dates/locations of births/deaths/marriages for their family so I can include them in the Genealogy section. - Rick]

Hi Rick and Susan,
Viewed your Mollica Homepage and was anxious to respond. My mother, Virginia, is a Mollica and currently lives near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She had 7 brothers: Domenic, Lawrence, Joseph, Frank, Anthony, James, and Rocco and 3 sisters Mary, Ann, and Catherine. Only three sisters are still living. They are my mother Virginia, and Aunts Ann and Catherine.
My grandfather, Rosario, had 4 brothers; Antonio, Guiseppe, Frank, and Rocco and 2 sisters Anna and Katerina. After immigrating from Reggio Calabria in the mid-late 1880's, Rosario and Frank settled in the Pittsburgh area and Guiseppe in New Mexico. We have limited history on Rocco, Anna, and Katerina. Descendants of the Mollica's, other than Great Uncle Rocco, and Great Aunts Anna and Katerina meet annually for a family reunion in Pittsburgh. The attendance ranges around 80 and continues to grow. I have attached a photo from last year's reunion.
Oh, by the way, my name is Mary Kay Nowak-Letters.
[ Ironically, I met Mary's brother Frank in the Navy several years ago (before I was interested in genealogy) and he gave me an invitation and map to the McKees Rocks Mollica Reunion! - Rick]
In September 1997, Fred Flaxman sent me an e-mail, which you can see below, that described a wall sculpture that was made by an artist named Mollica. Now Fred has provided a picture of the sculpture. Here's the picture and Fred's e-mail; contact Fred if you know anything about it or would like to purchase it.

Hi, Rick, I wonder if you can help me. I purchased a wall sculpture about 35 years ago which is made entirely of welded spike nails, all the same size. Well, not entirely. There are some metal strips going around. Anyway, it is signed "Mollica." I purchased the piece in an art gallery in Reston, Virginia. I'm trying to find out any information I can about the artist. Do you know of a Mollica who is an artist or sculptor? If so, do you know where I could get information on him or her? Thanks for your help.
I enjoyed your web site. You might enjoy mine, too. You can find it at http://www.jeffnet.org/fflaxman.

Hi Rick..and family. My father is John Anthony from California, I have 6 siblings...John R., Carolyn, Stephen, Margaret, Phillip, and Christine. My paternal grandfather's name is Angelo Fennich Mollica, I've always been told our family is from Northern Italy...nobody in my family seems to know much...or much they want to talk about....???? Any information...I'm curious about my ancestry...also I thought Mollica was a very uncommon name??
Did you see the Seinfeld episode with a character named John Mollica?? Write back with info please.. Patty Mollica (nickname "Molly")
[I referred Molly to this page and to more information about Seinfeld's John Mollica. Also, looks like Molly and Lee Mollica are cousins - they both cite Angelo Fennich Mollica as their grandfather. - see Lee's e-mail above (March 11, 1998) - Rick]

I located my great Aunt Ann's birth certificate. It gives the following information:
Is this anywhere near where your family is from?

Dear Richard Mollica:
I found your posting at rootsweb.com
I have done minimal family research. One very interesting find was regarding my mother's mother's family. The family name in the US was Monico. However, with the discovery of the birth certificate of the oldest child, who was the only child who was born in Italy, also came the discovery that the family name had been Mollica! I know it is not uncommon that names were changed upon immigration, but this was news to all my relatives. That oldest child was Ann Monico (Mollica) Grennie, born 10-27-1880, died 2-72.
Perhaps we are related!
Laura Hackenbrock
The map to the right shows the distribution of Mollicas in
the USA, based on the 1990 census and telephone book listings. Looks like Connecticut
and New Jersey are the states with the highest per capita population of Mollicas...
and look at Vermont!

My family has owned Mollica's Pub in West Milwaukee, WI since 1978. John my brother runs it now. It is the closest bar to County Stadium where the Brewers play. A few years ago I was bartending there and a young red headed guy came in who said he was going to Marquette, named Mollica, saw the sign and wanted to buy a shirt to send to his family. I said, "You don't look Italian." He said he was Polish and Mollica was a Polish name. Have you ever heard of that? -Tom Mollica.
[Nope...never heard of a Polish Mollica, but heck, the more the merrier!] :-) Rick
