From: Elizabeth Forkins Harano

Hi Rick. I can't believe it's been a year since I found your web site. Thanks for putting together the Fennick page, it's been a great help.

Through it, I connected with our cousin Lee Mollica. Lee put us in touch with cousins of my mother that she had lost touch with about 30 years ago! She was so excited! My mom (Mary Margaret Mollica Forkins Reed) & I were all set to join in a Mollica Family Reunion in Laughlin, NV this past January, but had to cancel at the last minute due to her emergency appendectomy (she's fine now). Lee & the other cousins were so nice - we're going to try again next January.

Anyway, the reason I'm writing now is that my Mom, my husband, & I are heading to Lipari in May. We'll be there for about 4 days, so if anyone has any suggestions we'd really appreciate them. We know that the cemeteries there are filled with Mollica's... We plan to do as much genealogy research as possible, & will report back if we find anything interesting, okay?

Thanks again,

Elizabeth Forkins Harano eharano@keller.edu

I have found your site very interesting. I have info regarding Dominic (Mickey)Mollica/ Virginia (Unknown). Their one child is my mother Carlotta F. Mollica. She has 5 children including myself. *Eddie Ross Trujillo *Cheryl Trujillo *Timothy Trujillo *Thomas Trujillo *Tamela Trujillo.

Unfortunately, we do not know Virginia's maiden name but will try to find out. She lives in Santa Fe, NM. Carla and her children reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico & Phoenix, Az. Mickey Mollica was a prominent official in Gallup, NM for many years. They have named a street in honor of him, Mollica Street. I have a photo of the street sign. I will try to get that to you. Please e-mail me if you have or would like any further information. Thanks, Tamela

Hi! I recently became interested in tracing my family's heritage. I felt like I hit a gold mine when I saw your page. My mother's maiden name is Mollica and I did not see any of her family listed. Here is what general information I have to contribute and I will research dates and places for you.

My grandfather's name was Nicholas Mollica and he married Eleanore Kotowski. His father's name was Anthony Mollica. My mom said he immigrated from Sicily. She also remembers that he was a police officer there. I guess all families have some ghost in their closet and here's one of ours - Anthony was a bigamist. Yes, my mom thinks he had 2 wives. After he immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio he sent for one of the wives - Carmela. I do not know her maiden name. They had 6 kids - Nicholas, Mary, Antoinette, Josephine, Sam and Joseph. My mom has 1 brother - Anthony.

My mom and uncle both live in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Mary and Joseph had no children. Antoinette had 2 kids and they live in Michigan. Josephine had 3 kids, Camille, Danny and Angela. I do not know what Antoinette's married name is. Mary's married name was Amato and Josephine's married name was DiFranco. The only child still alive is Josephine. My grandpa Nick died almost a year ago.

There are 4 kids in my family. Myself, Sandy Peyton (Owczarzak), Tim Owczarzak, Paul Owczarzak, Tony Owczarzak. My uncle Anthony has 3 daughters Donna, Kathy and Christine.

Thank you for all of the work you have done. Please email me if you have any questions.

I am writing to tell you that my twin sister Stacie and I are going into the Navy. Our scheduled ship out day is November 28, 2000. We are going to Great Lakes, Illinois for 9 weeks together on the buddy program. Stacie is going to be a Cryptologic Technician Administrator (CTA). She will be working with the FBI and CIA and stuff. I am going to be a Yeoman (YN) working my way to Journalist (JO). After I am done in bootcamp I will be going to Meridian, Mississippi and Stacie will be going to Pensacola, Florida. Then we are going to try to be stationed in Italy. That would be awesome. We both want to really bad, but we will see what happens. Thanks, Kristen

I saw you had a few pages from a screenplay I wrote at your site. Boy I am surprised you found that. I also have changed my web page since you listed it a few years ago. It now is www.studiotommy.com and while I was at it I made a web page for my brother John who owns Mollica's Pub in West Milwaukee. His is mollicaspub.homestead.com. Tom Mollica

So...what does it mean if your first name is Mollica? I found the following enlightening description on a page sponsored by the Kabalarians ("Teaching the Principles of Mental Freedom")

Mollica

Your first name of Mollica has made you a sociable person who appreciates the beauties of nature and the refinements of life, and is moved by music and the arts. You are very idealistic and romantic within yourself and may have tried to express your beautiful thoughts through poetry or writing. Crudeness and vulgarity are very repulsive to you and you are very particular about little things. You suffer greatly with lack of confidence and self-consciousness. You crave affection and understanding, yet because you can be so easily and deeply hurt, you have learned to keep your true nature hidden; therefore people do not really know you. You always wonder if you are doing the right thing, desiring to express yourself but afraid to. People may consider you haughty and aloof because of your sensitivity and reserved ways. You may find some expression but it would usually be light conversation, rarely daring to reveal your deeper thoughts or take others into your confidence for fear of criticism or ridicule. You have a very kind and gentle nature, and although you may be in a position in contact with the public, you will still be a lonely and reserved person. Thus, you live much within your own thoughts, often finding your escape in reading, which you love to do. This name could cause you to suffer through a sensitivity in the fluid functions, causing female disorders, swelling of the legs and ankles, or general blood debility. There is also a weakness in the region of the heart and respiratory organs.

Hi, my name is Tony Mollica. I was born in Queens NY in 1963. My brother is John Frank, sister is Christine Francis. My father is Frank George. His father, now deceased, was Salvitor. His father (my great grandfather) was Frank sr.

Frank sr. came to NY from Sicily with his wife Maria around the turn of the century (around 1905 or 1908?). His family came from Palermo and Naples.

I met them both several times in Queens. There were very sweet people. Frank sr. reminded me of George Burns in the movie Oh God. Frank died in the mid 80's at 96. Maria died in the late 80's at 97.

They were both very hard working people. I heard that Frank sr. was very good with his money.

Almost all of the family still lives in Queens. My sister Christine (Tina) lives in a high rise apartment on Park Ave. She's divorced planning to remarry a very nice Italian man, Paul. She is 34. My brother John and I live in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. He has two kids, John jr., 7, and Kristen 4. I have 2 boys, Anthony jr., 14 and John Richard, 11. My brother is 36 and I am 37. We are really the only ones from our family to leave NY, besides my father Frank.

I hope this information was useful to you.

Yours Truly, Anthony G. Mollica sr.

From: Brandon Mollica

Hey, my name is Lauren Mollica. I live in Birmingham Alabama. I'm doing a research project at school which I have to trace back my family's history...who came to America, why we came etc. I know that my great or great-great grandparents came over here from Italy, will you please help me!

My father's name is Karl Mollica, and he has the brothers, Sam Mollica, Charlie Mollica. If you think you can help me PLEASE e-mail me back at : Laura91684@mailcity.com Thank you so much for your help!

My response:

Hi Lauren ... Sorry, but all I can find is Sam...he was born on September 18, 1885 and died in November 1970 at age 85. His social security number was 421-44-7340.
It's possible that your family came from Pietro Mollica who served in the Lousiana Militia during the Civil War (or as you folks in Alabama would call it, The War of Northern Aggression). In fact, he's the first Mollica I have any trace of in America at all - most of our ancestors came to America in the early 1900s. I found the following entry about Pietro in a listing of Confederate units and personnel in the archives of the Daughters of the American Revolution:

Mollica, Pietro — Company 2, 6th Regiment, European Brigade (Italian Guards Battalion) Lousiana Militia. Appears on Roll not dated.

Also...go back to the web site (http://www.mollica.net) to the genealogy page - there you will find our Coat of Arms and a couple of histories of the Mollica name that might work well in your report.
Good luck, Lauren.

Rick,

I'm very impressed with the Mollica geneology that has been made available. Who knows we might make a connection.

In 1968, I married Barry Lee Mollica. We have two children Robert age 30 and Vanessa Mollica Sanders 25. Barry was born in Altoona, Pa. in 1945. His mother's name is Doris. He has one brother Ron and one sister named Toni. Barry died in 1988, but we lost family contact long before that. In 1996 Jimmy Mollica called Robert and Vanessa about a family reunion. We didn't have enough information to know if we were related or not. I hope this will be a great beginning to a difficult task. Anything you can give us will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Oveta

My grandfather and parents are the only Mollica's who I know of in the United States who I can trace direct relation to. I know there are other Mollica's but I am pretty sure they are not related.

My grandfather, Basilio Mollica, moved to Boston from Patti, Sicily in 1950. And he has lived in Boston ever since. My father Francesco and my Aunt Giovanna were born there also.

Any information you can provide about my family, or steps to research more about my family would be greatly appreciated.
