This page contains questions, comments, stories, and miscellanea which ought to be of interest to at least some of us Mollicas. I also put genealogy information here that also finds its way to the Worldwide Mollica Famiglia part of the genealogy section of this web site.
If I include anything that you've written that you don't want to appear on this page, please let me know and I will remove it right away.

My great grandfather was Frank Mollica, he was married to Maria? They had 3 children, salvatore, frank and phyllis. My grandfather was Frank Mollica he married Marie Theresa Digiovine. They had 5 children, Frank, Maryanne, Bettina, Donato and Lenora. My father is Frank Mollica, he married Joan D'antoni, I am their only child Laura Mollica. I married Al Flammia, my children are Michael and Matthew. My father does not know much about his mollica family, therefore i know less. I would like to build a history for my children but I don't know any of my relatives. i hope this is a helpful link to your family tree. Maybe somehow, somewhere, we are all related.
Good luck

Well Rick, I will try my best guess as far as birth and death dates. My great-grandfather Frank died in 1988 or 1989. He was about 94 when he died, give or take a year or two. My great grandmother Maria died in 1994 I think she was 98. I have no idea what their date of birth was. My grandfather Frank was born on march 22, 1916 or 1917. he died on June 16, 1986. My grandmother Marie Theresa was born 02/07/17. She died 12/22/82. My father Frank was born 4/25/37 He is still living. I have no idea when the others were born. I am going to get together with my aunt Phyllis who was my grandfather's sister. I am going to question her extensively. I will let you know what I find out.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Here is my response to Laura:
Laura - With the dates you sent I was able to track down a lot of information in the Social Security Death Index about your family (Notice that your greatgrandmother was listed as Mary). Following all this info is a format you can follow to request the SSN applications for each person ($7 per person)...the Social Security Administration will send you a copy of the application in your family members' own handwriting. It contains a lot of info...including names of parents. All of this info will help you put together a record for your sons (and when you get the info, will you please update me with the new info?). Good luck! Cheers...Rick

Hi.. I was just surfing around and found your page.
My paternal great -grandmother was Catherine Mollica Buzzanco (married James Vincent Buzzanco and came here from Sicily ). They had one son (my grandfather Nicholas Buzzanco). He had 4 children, including my mother. There are many Mollica's here in Niles, OH all cousins.
More information is available, but it's 5.30 AM and I can't call to wake my mother for it. I thought I'd drop an email now. If any of this is of interest to you, more information can follow.

Dear Rick,
I have information for you on Angelo Mollica born in 1877 in Italy who was married
to Felicia. He was also married to Mary. Angelo Mollica is my father's grandfather.
My father's father was Bartolo. I will send you a family tree of this Mollica
family as soon as I map it out a little better. Any information that you have
that would be of any help would be much appreciated. My e-mail address is: LMollica@aol.com
Sincerely,
Louisa Mollica
[The only info I have on Angelo's family is what you see on my web site from the 1920 census. Also, there is a Bartolo in the Social Security Death Index: Born Dec 3 1918 - Died August 1976 - lived in Brooklyn, NY - SSN 129-09-5468. He might be Louisa's grandfather? - Rick]

My grandparents came from Santo Stefano and Palermo. My grandmother's maiden name is Conigliaro (not quite sure of exact spelling). I live in Milwaukee, Wi.
My grandfathers brother name was Guiseppi who moved to Argentina. His other brother's name was Santo who died in the WW1. My grandfather also had a sister who in English it would translate to Sara. Through marriage she became Cincotta.
At this time I am trying to see if there are any
relatives through my grandparents brothers and sisters that might be on one
of these web pages.
thanks,
Terry

Hello Rick , I forgot to mention in information before that my Father in law
lived in Penn Hill, Pennsylvania when he died...and I forgot the 4th brother
of my father in law was named Dan who stayed in Italy with the mother, who named
was Maria Carmella Mollica. There was also a cousin of my father in law who
lived in Altoona, Pa, his named was Dan and his wife's name is Philomena and
they had 5 or 6 children, Rose, Amadeo, Lillian, Richard, and Gerald. The only
one I was friends with was Gerald, and he married a girl named Frances. Both
Gerald and Frances are dead. Gerald died in 1996 and Frances died before Gerald.
They had two daughters, one named Geralynn and one named Marilyn. The father
Dan Mollica worked for Westinghouse in Altoona and the son Gerald worked at
Mine Safety Appliance with my father in law, Cesare J. Mollica. Take care.
Best Regards Frances Lamanna Mollica

Hi there,
Imagine my surprise to find a web site dedicated to the Mollica name. As far
as I knew there werent too many of us. On your unlinked
name list, you have Guilio Mollica
(1907-1989). He was my grandfather, married to Anna DiPalma and survived by
sons Joseph and Jules and my mother Rosemary. I know he emigrated from Tunis
i think in the thirties or forties (some time during a revolution there) and
would love to find out anything else I can about my roots. I also know he has
only one surviving sister who lives in france...I only know her as Aunt pina
(Josephine) but my mom knows more. Wow! Who knew...let me know if youd be interested
in any more current family info etc...or if you have any historical stuff available...thanks
alot!

Hi Rick,
I am very glad to see you join the list. [I joined the Mullica list server at rootsweb.com - rick]
My list is fairly new and I am sorely lacking members. This name does not seem
to be too popular with genealogists! I visited your webpage and it is quite
well done. Maybe you could mention the list on your website.
I have a theory on the Mullicas too. There are two groups -- The Mullicas who
descend from Eric Mullica of Sweden and the more recent Mullicas (and variations),
the Italians.
There are a group of Mullicas that settled in Iowa and I'm thinking they are
all connected to the original Mullicas of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, but I
have not much success making this connection. There are about 40 Mullicas listed
in the U.S. I found that a few of them in New Jersey were Italian. This is the
first time I became aware there were Italian Mullicas. The Italian I spoke to
told me the same as you did, that the name was changed by immigration officers.
I am researching French Mullica who was born in Mullica Hill, New Jersey in
1830.

Subject: Back from Lipari!
Date: Tue, 25 May 1999
From: Judy Mollica
We're back from Lipari. I highly recommend it as a peaceful (except for the sound of motorscooters) vacation spot. We stayed for 6 nights.
We went to the record office in Lipari to check on the birth of our Onofrio Mollica and found his parents listed as Antonio Mollica and Grazia Cusolito. Since it was lunchtime (11:55) when we arrived, they let us have the birth record book and look through it, so we looked through all of the Ms from 1850 to 1885 or so to try to find other children of Antonio and Grazia. Sometimes he was called Antonino and she was called Maria (or M.) Grazia. There were often repeats of the children's names, so we assumed the first one with the same name had died - I'll have to check that on the microfilm. Other Mollica fathers having children in Lipari during that time were: Giuseppi, Salvatore, Bartolo, Angelo, Domenico and Francisco.
We guessed that Mollicas comprised about 10% of the M births during that time in Lipari! I have on reserve now at the Family History Center a microfilm of Lipari Births, Marriages and deaths. Perhaps this info. will be repeated on it.
The small town is still full of Mollicas. The receptionist at the hotel even, but she wasn't too interested. A woman with a commercial shipping co. was great and took us to lunch. Her cousin and aunt (both Mollica's) figured out a distant relationship to my husband's family. In Cannetto (a walk through a tunnel from the town of Lipari) there were a lot of Mollicas in the cemetery - I tried to take pictures of the gravestones. An old guy in front of the grocery store rode his bike while we walked to the home of Pepino (Giuseppe) Mollica. He was very kind and they gave us coffee and lemons and cookies. There was a distant relationship... I will let you know if I have any luck deciphering the information on the microfilm of Lipari Information... Cheers! Judy Stitt Mollica
