The Grand Opening!

Welcome to the Grand Opening! It's been a little over 13 months since I started working on this house (and yes, I took my own good time) but now it's open for visitors.

Here's the final exterior and interior. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with it. I really haven't done much with the interior. For me, the house was the whole point, and the inside is just the frosting on the cake. When I started out, I wasn't planning on finishing the inside, but after I'd put the floor down, I just couldn't resist getting wall paper and so it went from there. My main interest is still in miniature architecture.
Want to see what some one else has done with this same kit, both inside and out? Check out Anne Gerdes' Victorian Farmhouse. Her spectacular interiors leave mine looking barren.

And this is what it looks like from either side.

The living room and sitting room make up the downstairs. According to the chimney, there's a fireplace, but there really isn't any inside wall for it to go on. And between the stairs, windows and door, there's hardly even room for hanging pictures on the outer walls.

The study and the bed room make up the upstairs. (Don't ask about a kitchen or a bathroom-- they just aren't there!) The letters on the desk and the posters on the wall are available from my ever growing Printable Mini area.
Here's a small sample of what you'll find there:

A porch swing and garden hose spruce up the outside. I just love the hose-- it's a wonderfully neat thing to have in miniature.

I made a calendar marking the day I finished the dollhouse. You can make your own calendars (1" or 1/2" scale) for any date you'd like. The calendar machine is also in the Printable Minis area.

Well, I say I'm finished but you may have noticed there's nothing in my attic. So far I haven't thought of anything to put up there.

It's a wonderful space (I enjoy places where the roof cuts into the room) but there's no windows up there and only a crawl hole for access so it wouldn't be very useful for anything other than storage. Someday I may put something up there, but I have no plans right away.

Well, that's it! I'm just beginning to mull over my next project, so watch this space to see what develops. See you then.
