Making your tools work for you.

For use in Ritual and Magick, your tools should be cleansed, concerated and empowered to your personal energies. This prosess can be as complex or simplistic as you like. For example; Cleansing can be as simple as visualising negative energy flowing out of your tool into the ground to be neutralized, or so complex it takes an entire ritual to perform a single Cleansing. I prefer a happy medium.

Cleansing.

To cleanse a tool, I like to use water and a bit of salt (from water and earth elements) I mix them together and do a visualization blessing (coverd later) I put the tip (careful with this part if your tool is wooden!) into the water and ask that it help purify (from water) the tool, and give it stability (from Earth) in it's works. I then wave it through the smoke from burning insence (from fire and air) and ask that it might give power to change (from air) and always work with truth and passion (from fire). I then do a "quickie blessing" (covered later).

Concecrating

This is the place where you present the tool to the God and Goddess. State you will use it in your rites, what it is, what it's for and ask that it never causes harm to anyone.

Empowering

This gets your tool up and running. Many people like to empower thier tool under a full moon, in a running stream or even by leaving it outside durring a thunderstorm! All of these work, and work VERY well, but in adidtion to doing one of those, I like to attune my tools to my energy. This is accomplished by keeping the tool near you for extended periods of time. I know that most of us can't get away with hauling our tools everywhere we go, so try this: Sleeping with the tools, or sleeping withthem near your bed (use common sence, don;t sleep with an un-sheathed athame).

"Quickie Blessing"

Got your curious up? Good. Don't let the name fool you, this is a very effectie way to bless small objects such as talismans or sachets. Take the object in your power hand and close your eyes, concentrate your positive energy onto the object and ask the Gods for assistance. As you pour energy into the object, pick a chant you like, and say it. When you feel it is "done" draw an invoking pentagram into the air in front of you and kiss the object. It's done!

Visualisation Blessing

Used for large objects, like cars, and people, or awkward objects like bowls of Earth or Water. It is basically the same as the Quickie, but you only place your hand on the object. Then you say your chant, and draw the pent on the object (If it's a car, try putting it in the dust on your dashboard, it really works! by the way, you don;t do any kissing in this one)
