DAY 16. Tuesday July 6, 2004. FOUNTAINBLEU TO PARIS
This was another travel day. We stopped at Fountainbleu and saw the castle, and stopped for lunch. Kim and I stopped in a restaurant bathroom which was free! Although the stairs were unbelievably steep and skinny. This was good as we heard the public bathrooms were unpleasant. We arrived to Paris around 4pm for a 7pm supper. Then we were off for a tour of the illuminations as Contiki puts it, and then off to the Eiffel tower, where I encountered a very pushy woman who attempted to hold me back from entering the lined up elevator down, even though I was there first. Fortunately I was able to push my way though, only to encounter her again on the final ride down… The line up was insanely long to get up so we basically only had time to go up, look around, and come down, but it was still really cool and worth 10 Euro. When we got down they took us to a lookout to watch the 11pm lightup of the tower! Great stuff. And then also to do more touring of Paris including the round about thingy- which didn't seem to have any rules. Note that this hotel is confusing. The elevator from the bus park only goes up to 5th floor and we were staying on 6th. It also has the same name as many other Paris hotels, as some of our company later learned when trying to get back.
