Looking back
Today was our day to explore at leisure.  Kim and I woke up later giving ourselves a chance to recover a bit from jet lag.

We then ventured down to the lobby and inquired about tours.  Finding a nice easy bus tour (the
Original Tour) departing right from the hotel (cost 15 pounds) , we checked our luggage for the day as we had to stay at the other contiki hotel (the Imperial) about a block away that night.

We then went onto the big double decker bus for the open eye view of the city sites.  We got off at
Buckingham Palace and were able to see the changing of the guards.  We also toured the Queen's Gallery (cost 7.5 Pounds).  Then, we got back onto the big red bus, which proceeded to break down, so we strolled to the next stop to catch the next one... Next stop was the Tower of London where we got off and toured a quick tour and also had some lunch at KFC where I had a burger with a hashbrown on it.

We then proceeded back on the bus, transferred relatively close to our stop as there was nothing going directly to our hotel, and then walked from the stop to the hotel to meet up with the Contiki crew early that evening.  Before doing this we made another quick email stop in the Contiki basement meeting another girl from Canada who was leaving the following day too, albeit on a different tour.

The meeting was basically for Contiki to get our info such as our passport info, our travel insurance info etc, and then we were told to meet back the following morning bright and early.  We were also told about the strick 20 kg weight limit, so we offloaded some of our weight into our backpacks. Just to make sure we were okay the following day- we went down to the basement scale to check, and there met Andrea who would be on our tour.  Andrea was headed out to a show, but we opted for another quieter evening.

Day 2 was much better than day 1, and were looking forward to meeting our tour manager and the rest of the
crew the following day.
