Day 14. Sunday July 4, 2004. NICE/ST PAUL

Nice France. Today was the most amazing day. Breakfast at 8:15 was great! Rolls, donut, croissants and crepes. Jeff organized an optional tour to a little village called Saint Paul. It was my favourite part of the trip. Our guides name was Pascala and she was a character. She sang some opera for us and told us lots of stories like how a chef made something amazing for a woman with a swan on it because swans mate for life, but she ended up taking the cake and leaving him. I think he could have had any of the girls on the bus who all loved his attempt. The village was so beautiful and historic. We also passed a gypsy wedding where a horse had gotten caught in a fence and Pascala was commenting about the brave man in the white shirt, and the little girl on the horse also seemed okay. There were so many flowers, and it was so beautiful and old. I could have spent the whole day up there, but we ventured back to Nice by 2. This is where not packing a towel cost me and I shelled out 23 Euro for a fancy souvenir type one. Say on the beach and then swam briefly in the Mediterranean. It was beautiful water, and salty. The beach was rocky (therapeutic I guess), but I could have done without the older topless woman who was laying right where I could see here. Once again some of our group had success at the Casino. We caught the bus at 5 back to the hotel and had supper of salads, chicken, potato and ice cream. We went and watched part of the last half of the game Portugal vs Greece and Greece was victorious.
