My Napptural Journey
January 29, 2003
The decision not to perm my hair any longer is one I have thought about for years.  A few times I have tried and failed. Listening to family members complain about it. Well I have researched and studied the different aspects of wearing my hair in its natural state. I have not had a perm since  October 4, 2002.

I am in my transition stage. Today I am sporting a twist out. I have worn a drawstring ponytail in the past, but my new growth has become too much for that. I like the results of the twist out and will wear this style for awhile. I got the instructions from
Roshini's Hair Website. Her website is very helpful and informative. Her directions are easy to follow and very detailed. You should also check out Nappturality.com. You will find stories from women with all textures and their regiments for natural hair maintenance. It is  best online support system I have found on the web.

I am still wearing the twist out and sometimes a braidout. I am planning to get cornrow braids to give myself a break from daily styling. Pictures to come.

This week I am wearing my cornrow braids. I decided to experiment and do them my self. They came out okay. My cousin asked me if I did zig zag braids. Okay I didn't but I guess tells you how they look. I am planning to take them out this weekend. I am trying to wash my hair every week. I will takes pictures before I take them down.

Next Day's Entry
This week I wore the cornrow braids again. This time with straight parts. A friend parted my hair then I braided it. I also put two bangs that are just small sections I took before brading my middle two braids. I braided the new growth and used perm rod rollers to roll the permed ends. They came out some cute I decided that will be my next style. Little individual braids with the ends curled. I am really enjoying this transition period. My aspiration is to transtion for a year. Synergy ,who transitioned for 19 months, is an inspiration to me. I found her picture journal on my now favorite site Nappturality.com.
