Today I experienced a hair do gone wrong. I wanted to see if I could replicate my first natural style done by a stylist. The cornrow braids with the rod roller set. I braided the front, got my parts nice and straight. Very proud of myself for that. I rolled each section applying some shea butter lotion before combing out. I rolled the back quite nicely. When I took the rollers out, I had a chunky fro. Curls in some spots, but definitley not alot. I didn't let my failure get me down. I took some bobby pins to make the front stand up a little, used one of my new bra strap head bands and turned the style around. I took pictures to show my style gone wrong.

This week I did some two strand twist on my own. On Monday, I twisted the back and left the braids in the front. I was proud of my braids and straight parts. I conditioned wash the back and water rinsed the braids. Let it dry. I used the Jamaican Loc and Twist Creme. I really liked the way they held my twist and made them shiny. On Thursday, I took the braids down and put the two strand twists all over. I used my bra strap head bands and head wraps for accessories. When I got the "chop done, the stylist left some relaxed hair in spots mainly in the front. I have been cutting and clipping away. I think I've got it all out and then some. Last night while twisting my hair, I cut more than was necessary. I have vowed to leave the scissors alone. My daughter is still transitioning. She had her professionally done for back to school. He did a roller set with flat twist in the front. When her curls fell, we pulled the back in two puffs and later one puff. This week, deep conditioned her hair. I am getting better with my styling. Her style for the week: flat two strand twists in the front with two strand twists in the back. I rolled the permed ends with the rod rollers. Next week she'll wear a twist out in the back. She doesn't want to cut her so I'm clipping about 1/2 inch at a time. She now has more natural hair than relaxed. Soon she will be 100%. I can't wait. I feel like I am still transitioning.

I am wearing two strand twists again. The twist out from my last set came out great. By the end of the week it looked like a chucky fro. My hair won't do that naturally so I liked the look. To do my twists this time, I put my hair in four sections after a conditioner wash and detangling. This created a part down the middle of my head this time. So I have a different look from the last set of twists. I have been trying to go without heabdands and wraps. I don't want to wear my hair line out. I've never had a problem with a thinning hairline and I don't want to create one now. The twists also keep from smoothing down the front which can be thinning. I am determined to keep my hair healthy and damage free. I actually have almost two rolls of film to develop. So pics and more pics to come. I have been taking more of my daughter's transition lately. This is her ninth month. I'm hoping at the year mark I can clip the rest of her perm out. We'll see.
