Curtis Sergeant

Greetings! Our family is now in our second year serving on the missions team at Saddleback Church in Organge country, CA as Director of Church Planting.  Some of you may have heard of the senior pastor, Rick Warren, who wrote "The Purpose Driven Life."  The bulk of my responsibililty in recent months has been in the development of the online training system for the P.E.A.C.E. Plan.  Our church is just launching it this month so it is only in English now, but we are aiming for global launch next October and ultimately hope to have it in up to a hundred languages.  P.E.A.C.E. is an acronym for Planting churches, Equipping servant leaders, Assisting the poor, Caring for the sick, and Educating the next generation.  It is focused on equipping ALL disciples to do these things (and obey the Great Commandment and Great Commission)  in their own "Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  It is focused on church-based holistic ministry throuogh small groups, equipping non-professionals to do what they can in terms of prevention and/or primary care in response to the range of P.E.A.C.E.  needs.  The tagline is, "Ordinary people, empowered by God, making a difference together wherever they are."

On the home front, Debie continues a range of ministries through our home.  Nathan is a sophomore at Mission Viejo High School and is in the International Baccalaureate program and does drama ministry through the church.  Megan is a seventh-grader at La Paz Intermediate School in the honors program and enjoys her involvement in the music program at church.  We all seem to have adjusted fairly well to life in southern California.  We have a spare bedroom and you are welcome to use it if you are ever visiting in the area.  Do write ahead, though, because we host a lot of people.
