Merry Christmas to the Class of '82 from Dan, Karyl, and Timothy Wentz. Winter has arrived in full force this year in Western Mass. We have already had four snowfalls and temperatures in the negatives. Although I am not exactly a fan of the snow, I love to look upon God's creation as the sun glistens off the snow covered pine trees that surround our property. It reminds me that Jesus still is the reason for the season.
Here are some highlights from 2005 in the Wentz household.
Timothy completed kindergarten in June and is now a big 1st grader. His favourite part of everyday is , would you believe, recess. It is exciting to see him grow up and develop. He has achieved a number of milestones this year. He has learned to swim underwater-swimming is probably his favorite physical activity. He has learned to ride his bike without the training wheels - family bike rides are sure to be a big part of 2006. And call us crazy, but he is learning to play the drums. He is making great progress, although practice is sometimes a bit of a challenge.
Karyl continues to be a stay at home mom running the household and growing her AVON business. We are thnakful of God's provision in this, as I am required to travel on a fairly regular basis for work.
As for me, I just started my 16th year with Dow Jones & Co. I am currently an applications/data warehousing architect. Although I have not always been appreciative of certain aspects of my job, when I step back and reflect, the Lord's hand in my career is unmistakable. We have so much to be thankful for.
In June my parents moved into a retirement center in Hanover, PA. It is one that provides in dependent living with assisted living facilities available when required. They are both still in good health which allows them to enjoy the myriad of activities available. I believe Tim would like to move in with them so that he can enjoy the indoor swimming pool, hot tub, game room with football, air-hockey, billiards, ping-pong, and shuffleboard, not to mention the computer center, craft center, etc. It sounds more like a resort than a retirement center. The only downside is that they are about 7.5 hours away from us and we don't get to see them as often as we would like.
My brother David, and his family (Marilyn, Kelly, and Shannon), still live southeast of Denver. David is going through a change in career at the moment. After 7 years with Frontier Airlines as a pilot, he is exploring several different career opportunities.
Karyl, Tim, and I all love to travel. One of our travel highlights this past year was a trip to Orange County, CA where we were able to get in a quick visit with the Sergeants. Tim, being our Star Wars and Lego fan, thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Nathan, a kindred spirit. Don't be too surprised if some day you get a call from us saying that we're going to be in your neighborhood, and would love to get together with you. Likewise, if any of you ever find yourselves in New England, especially MASS., please drop us a line. |
