Hi Class
Just a brief note on what the Skiles are doing ... Vicki and I are currently in Taiwan working with my parents. Our oldest daughter Ashley is holding down the fort in Des Moines while the rest of us hang out with the young'uns. :) When we arrived in September, mom and dad were caring for 17 infants under the age of 1. Several of these were special needs infants so it just added to the blessing/challenge. We adopted 2 Chinese children in November of last year. Austin and Amber are 12 and 13 and we've been blessed to have them as a part of our home. In a way, coming back to the ophanage was a homecoming for them... we're trying hard to keep up their English. Vicki is home-schooling the kids so we try to get some good time in the morning and then head over to the orphanage for the rest of the day. We're generally exhausted but grateful to be here and blessed to be a part of something 'bigger' than ourselves.
My son Drew and I had the privielge of accompanying a baby to her waiting parents in Des Moines in May. What a privilege to see a child with a loving home and just praise the Lord for His goodness and grace. We've had that same blessing several times over since then as adoptive parents have come to Taiwan and we get to see first hand the beginning of a new family... what a treat! :)
We're a family of 6, enjoying the mix and grateful to be part of God's family. Thanks again for keeping us all in the loop.
