Dear Class
Let's see - Liam turned three this year so he's finally past the baby toys and onto the fun stuff. We've been working on his mouse and keyboard skills. After a few months he's now able to work independently on a computer and play some simple games. The free character themed games amnd activities from noggin.com are very popular, as are some Thomas the Tank Engine games. The big day will be when he's ready for robotics - not sure if this will be fun for him but I'll enjoy it.
Kim's back surgery last year has finally helped her start recovery. She's still working on this, bu tat least now she's off the pain medication. Accupunture, physical therapy and yoga are her current treatment. Her health improvements have given her renewed enthusiasm for her crafts, such as stamping and scrap booking.
As for me, now that Apple is finally POSIX compliant, I've bought an iMac. All my years of UNIX development leave me ill suited for Windows programming. I'm happy that I now have the "eye candy" of a graphical user interface but can drop down easily to a familiar command line and adminsiter the system or write code - without the constant administration my Linus systems required.
So another year. Hard to believe how much has happened, and how fast it all went by. Hope you are all well and looking forward to next year !
Tim
