Amanda Barrie, best known for her role as Coronation Street's Alma Sedgwick, holds nothing back when she talks about why she's taking part in Hell's Kitchen.
"It's simple - I can't cook! I am the microwave queen. I can't wait longer than 4 minutes to eat."
Amanda's hoping her stint in the kitchen will be a success but admits she's more worried about keeping life and limb together.
"My ambition is to go home with the same amount of digits as I started!"she confesses.
Since leaving Corrie, Amanda has joined the cast of Bad Girls as Bev Tull, and is currently filming her third series.
At the age of three, Amanda began taking ballet and singing lessons but was expelled from school when she played truant to attend ballet lessons.
On Gordon she says:
"If I'd had as good a teacher as him in ballet class I'd have been an amazing dancer!"
At thirteen Amanda lived at the Theatre Girl's Club in Soho, London where she worked as a chorus girl. Within years she was dancing with Danny La Rue and Barbara Windsor.
Throughout the sixties Amanda was the hostess on Double Your Money with Hughie Green. She has also appeared in several Carry On's. |
